I know that the Fly and Scalextric sidewinder cars have room for weight. I don't know about the front motored cars.

I think that the older Scaleys and Nincos for that matter that have the clamshell type body are a technological oddity that we have the ability to overcome, just in the name of fair play, otherwise we will all be running the same car. That being said my Fly 250Lm has been lowered, altered, parts cut off to fit a pod type chassis long before we discussed this class. After finding and reusing all of the original pieces and rebuilding the body post to get the correct height, I think I might have to invoke the 3.5 rule. That says, that from 3.5 feet away my car looks box stock. At least until I can get another one.

RE: The Fly gear issue, until Electric dreams updated their website the other day, every Fly sidewinder car had a note about replacing the pinion with a Scalextric pinion to run quieter. It is an 11 tooth pinion. Mine happens to have a brass pinion on what I think is actually a Scaley black stripe motor (built out of the parts box of course) and it runs very quiet. Scalextric offers their 11 tooth pinion gears in a package of 4 for $3.99.
I have since found the original Fly motor. It seems to be much quicker.

Nope, same car, just a little more tweaking on the old rattle trap.

That one probably handles much better than mine with that wider stance. I wanted to cut out the wheel wells like that, but every time I try they get crooked.

Nice link, thanks. The other day I was working on a couple of cars in the unheated garage and I left them there for a couple of hours. Later I took them downs stairs to find they were sliding all over the track. My first thought was I had done something wrong with the guide and the front was dragging. It took a minute to realize that maybe I should let the tires warm up a little.

It appears that this new Javelin will come PCS chassis ready, which means that they will have an upgrade Pro Race Chassis available that will take a slot it pod. So one would assume that eventually they will be making an upgrade to the existing models. Until then this car will have a huge advantage over the existing models. We might want to address this as a club before guys start shelling out $$$ for upgrades they might not be able to use.

Thanks for having us out, it was a great turnout and a great time.

Congrats to Bill and Diane, and thanks to Donna and Al for letting us invade their house for an evening of fun. Thanks to Rico for handling the timing and giving pointers on how the program works.

That's too bad. Were they able to stop the leak, or is it an ongoing problem?

I imagine that there are quite a few Gems hidden in amongst the "junk". Some of that stuff just gets harder to find very year. You have enough 36D motors there to keep the "over 50" class running forever.

I need to save this picture to show Chris the next time she is eyeballing my stuff/unfinished projects on the workbench.

Okay Monte, I hope you don't change your mind. I spent an hour yesterday changing my 962 from an anglewinder back into an inline car. The toughest part was finding all of the original parts hidden away in unfinished/failed projects. But then what else did I have to do until Chris "clears" me to go back to work. It appears that I'm not supposed to lift anything heavier than a slot car or controller. However after yesterdays excursion into the garage I think I need to spend a couple of hours cleaning up the workbench so I can get it all out again later. Vicious circle it seems.

Yep, we had a pretty good time.

That should be fun.
