Re: NASTE Odd Thursday Night Racing Rules & Current Thread

It was fun getting back on the track. Thanks for loaning Dorothy a car, Bill. We should be at the next race with Ruben, our Canadian friend. Don't hold that against him though. smile

Re: NASTE Odd Thursday Night Racing Rules & Current Thread

As always, thanks for an entertaining evening Bill.  It was definitely a fun one for me as well, even with the good-natured deterioration of the BRM spectacle.  It was an impressive debut for my new GT class Nissan and a reasonable night for my completely undeveloped CanAm car.  When I can't make an Odd Thurs, I really miss it!  Looking forward to spending a little more time with those cars and getting a little more speed out of them.

I eventually will get back to running and tuning at my house on a regular basis, and then hosting the circus as well.  Until then, I will be very happy to drive into turn 1 side by side at Too Bad.

Until the next Odd Thurs!

Re: NASTE Odd Thursday Night Racing Rules & Current Thread

The chassis mystery is solved!  It is a Vendetta '465' chassis, manufactured in 1965 or 1966. It sold as a bare chassis kit for $3.00 and was also available as a RTR.

Re: NASTE Odd Thursday Night Racing Rules & Current Thread

December 3rd, 2015 Odd Thursday Night Racing-

It was a cold night, but the thirteen racers on hand helped to warm up the garage as well as the track. It was nice to see Ruben Guzman from Canada, as well as the usual crowd of NASTE racers. We started the night off racing the Trans Am class. Amy Fields took the unofficial win with her Nak-Spec Camaro. Unfortunately with the traction magnet in place she was not entitled to the official overall win, that win went to Bryan Trachsel. Bryan got that win by just half a lap over Gary Goose Gossett.

Next class of cars to the grid were the classic sports cars. Performance stepped up a notch in this class with the Division 2 allowed modifications of 8mm wide rear tires and/or motor pod-type or articulating chassis. Chris Kouba's Slot.it Ford GT40 proved to be the class of the field here, setting a new lap record as well as total laps in a 3 minute heat race. Rico Locati took the Division 1 win with his proven scratchbuilt Ferrari GTO.

After the sports car race it was time for the BRM Porsche 962s. The real question was what type of race would it be? As it turned out everyone, ok well most everyone raced in a very gentleman-like manner. Unusual for the BRM class! Chris Kouba drove to an impressive win! And lastly the Over 50 Class. Gary Goose Gossett has his Mystery Chassis car pretty well dialed in now, and it showed on the track. Goose took the win with a comfortable 3 lap cushion!

I'd like to thank everyone who was able to make it out for the race! And thanks for all the snacks! I'd also like to thank Chris Kouba for allowing us to run his 3 new BRM cars (Ferrari 512 & Porsche 917s) in a little IROC race to end the night. Oh, and for those that don't know, IROC stands for I Regret Offering Cars! Oh so true some times!

Re: NASTE Odd Thursday Night Racing Rules & Current Thread

Wow lots of laps, I better go downstairs and practice. Like that really helps.

Re: NASTE Odd Thursday Night Racing Rules & Current Thread

Thanks for another stellar night of racing Bill!  It was indeed a good debut run for my new classic GT40 (was it 25 breakout laps?) and a good, impressively clean run for everyone in BRM's.  I was bummed to have my Cobra-bodied Cox DNF in the >50's but have addressed it now and it will hopefully be back and better than ever.  I have some work to do with my Trans Am car too, but hope to have something worked out for the next round.  I'm glad you enjoyed the BRM classics as well, they are great lookers and once we reach a critical mass of people who have them, I think we should stick them in the class rotation as well.

I am really looking forward to checking out Al's new track for the next Odd Thursday.  Time to get some rubber on it!

Thanks again!
Chris

Re: NASTE Odd Thursday Night Racing Rules & Current Thread

That should be fun.

Re: NASTE Odd Thursday Night Racing Rules & Current Thread

Congratulations to the Christiansen's for a successful opening of their new track.  The races went off with only a few minor glitches that we corrected as we went along. We forgot to save the results for the first two classes but did save them for the BRM and Over 50 class but only in some weird file type that only Race Coordinator can open. We need to help Al get some form of Excel so we can save the results in a format we can read.  I believe I was able to get the printer software loaded but it was late and I did not try to print anything.
There were some really good close battles through out the evening but none closer than the BRM class. I won the race by quite a few laps due to some mishaps by others but Goose set the fast lap 7.069 to my 7.08x.  If memory serves Big Smooth won the F1 class. I don't remember who won in CanAm and Al set the pace for the Over 50 cars.  I'm pretty sure Goose was second and Brutus came in third.

Re: NASTE Odd Thursday Night Racing Rules & Current Thread

I'm sorry I couldn't stay for all the racing but I'm glad there was a good turn out and some good racing! It looked like everyone was having a great time while I was there! Al did a very nice job constructing his track and it runs very well! I did stay long enough to get a few bites of Al's famous meats! I will also say I had a very nice evening with my beautiful wife celebrating our 16th anniversary!

Re: NASTE Odd Thursday Night Racing Rules & Current Thread

Congrats on the anniversary!

Re: NASTE Odd Thursday Night Racing Rules & Current Thread

Congrats to Bill and Diane, and thanks to Donna and Al for letting us invade their house for an evening of fun. Thanks to Rico for handling the timing and giving pointers on how the program works.

Re: NASTE Odd Thursday Night Racing Rules & Current Thread

Bill and Diane: congratulations on 16yrs. and still counting.

Re: NASTE Odd Thursday Night Racing Rules & Current Thread

Thanks guys for your support on the marriage front! Diane is the best as any of you that have met her know! I would be lost without her! I am one lucky guy!

Empirical data demonstrates that you're lost sometimes even with her.

Sad....but TRUE!!!

Re: NASTE Odd Thursday Night Racing Rules & Current Thread

The latest on Goose's "Mystery" chassis:

I recently acquired a slot car that utilizes the Vendetta chassis like the one Goose has. The car is a Cannon Bat-Ray. The one I now have is a good clean unmolested example that was in a "lot" I won on Ebay. Along with the car I got the original literature that came with the car, and a sales receipt for $14 dated 1966.

Re: NASTE Odd Thursday Night Racing Rules & Current Thread

We had quite a few new and re-worked cars show up at the New Years Eve Odd Thursday Night Race!

Mitch Brooks did a lowering job to his Carrera '57 Chev. It handled a whole lot better!

Bryan also brought out a Go Kart he built. This is the second Go Kart Bryan has built. The first was about the size of a small 1/24 car. This one is about the size of a 1/32 car. Both are very cool!
