Well the dust has settled and what can I say other than thank you to everyone that came out and made the 1st annual Freedom 500 a complete success. There was 13 total racers with a couple of additional spectators that came and enjoyed the action. ( thank you to Tim and Mitch for stopping by and assisting with marshalling and the company as well ). Freedom Raceway is a new track to the circuit and for many people this was their 1st time over at my place to get a feel of what many refer to as a mini Springwater.

For this race we did the format of using a 1 time through race to help determine the "qualifying " order for the final 2 times through to complete the race.

In the 1st segment well call it, It was clear everyone brought their "A" game. We saw multiple people have 40+ laps per heat and it made for some close racing.  at the end of the 1st segment it came down to myself and Bart in the 1st/2nd slot with Flyin Bryan and Mike G tied for 3rd/4th.

1st segment results are as follows :

1st. Steven - 184 laps
2nd - Bart - 176 laps
3rd - Mike G. 176 laps
4th - Flyin Bryan - 174 laps
5th - Nak Nak - 173 laps
6th - Doug - 164 laps
7th - Meat - 162 laps
8th - Frank - 148 laps
9th - Geof - 145 laps
10th - Bad Billy - 144 laps
11th - Racin Greyson - 138 laps
12th - Gearloose Jr  - 130 laps
13th - Bazowie - 87 laps

After this segment we took a break for lunch which I am grateful that Leslie provided us with her home made Lasagna and Ceaser Salad.

After lunch and the re-shuffle we began the 2nd segment of the race which was a twice through with 3.5 minute heats. Yet again the racing would not let anyone down as everyone was side x side shaking up the run order. The final results came in as follows:

1st - Steven - 560 laps
2nd -  Mike G - 536 laps
3rd - Bart - 534 laps
4th - Flyin Bryan - 534 laps
5th - Nak Nak - 531 laps
6th - Meat - 507 laps
7th - Doug - 501 laps
8th - Bad Billy - 458 laps
9th - Geof - 448 laps
10th - Racin Greyson - 442 laps
11th - Frank - 441 laps
12th - Gearloose Jr - 436 laps
13th - Bazowie - 414 laps

Over their was over 6,000 laps laid down over the course of the day between practice and racing and what better way to finally give the track a proper break in. Aside from a few technical issues we had we the power source everything was a success.

Next weekend the 17th will be the 1st race held at my house. We will be running the NWTS Pro track Indy cars and the current plan is to have 3 rounds with either 3 or 4 minutes heats. We will run the 1st round as normal then have reshuffle the field based upon results and continue on with rounds 2 & 3. Doors will open at 9 AM and tech will be at 10AM. I am hoping to have racing start by 10:30 AM.

Entrance will be on the right side of the house go through the gate and enter the garage through the 1st door.

There will be plaques given out for this race and lunch will be provided.

Tomorrow 9/23 will be the start of their rotation with GTO being the class that is competed. This will be such cars as Ferrari Enzo , Ford GT, Mclaren, Lamborghini Countach and many more

After approval from both Howie and Bob it has been decided that there will be 3 races on the calendar for this upcoming race season

first race and this will be an on-going event as my first race each season will be held October 17th and will be the " freedom 500" Indy car race

2nd race will be held January 16th and will be the Columbia River short track stockers

Final race will be held March 27th and will be NWTS lemans

Looking forward to a fun race season and having everyone over to try out the new track.

I wanted to post a current rotation for Pelican Park so everyone knows what classes are being ran in case anyone would like to make the trip down to race there. They currently are racing every Wednesday and there is no stoppage in their program. Majority of their classes consist of running a standard 16D motor as opposed to the S16d with the exception of their Big Nascar class. If I am not mistaken all of their classes consist of the "Oscar " or Hannah style chassis

- GTO
- Tourist Trophy Class ( last of the big 50's era front engine roadsters such as Chapparal 1, lister jag, Aston Martin DBR1, Ferrari Testa Rossa, Maserati 450 etc.
- Big Nascar
- Clubman and lights
- Jalopy
- Monza open wheel
- Vintage Nascar
- Can-am
- Dirt Devil
- Gran sport
- Super stock
- Trans Am

The next race on the schedule for 6/17 will be Super Stock

I would like to say thank you to everyone that came out to run some tracks and help further break in Freedom Raceway. Over the course of the evening there was over 1800 laps made and it finally began to show signs of rubber being laid down. The track consists of an Enamel low-lustre paint which gives it more of a grainy texture and with the track being newer it almost seems as if the glue is soaking into the wood but we did see as the night went on the cars began to get quicker and made for some fun side by side action which the 4.5" lane spacing definitely allowed for. Most cars were in the 3.50-4.00 lap time range depending on the style car which last night there was a fair share of every class being ran to get an idea of what might suit this lay out the best. The main comparison for this track was that its a mini spring water. We did learn last night there will be plenty of pit space for everyone and I have set up the garage to have access to any tools that might be needed as well.

I will do my best to try and set up a few track days this spring/summer and look forward to having everyone over for some races this next race season.

Ive had a few people express interest of having practices and races at my new track and while I am holding off currently in regards to holding a race due to the full schedule we currently have I was thinking of opening the track up Tuesday April 21st at 6PM for a track day.

I would love to find a way to get thicker bodies for the 4.5" so it allows for us to have longevity on them. Over all while it was a small crowd it was still a great time. Looking forward to progressing the 4.5" class.

I would like some feedback on when would be a good time to arrange this. I know we are starting to wind down on our race season so would this be more beneficial to take place after the race season comes to an end or just a random Saturday in between races?
