I am on this NASTE site a lot. I read all the latest write ups and news. I like to be able to report on the news of Northwest True Scale and I believe it is read by many people. For instance, I started reporting on the plans (Northwest True Scale page) for the 2026 season starting in February and have 1,338 hits as of now. Thanks Monte, it is a good slot car site in my opinion.

After combining the Early Sportsman and Late Sportsman into one class called Sportsman and combining the Early Modified and Late Modified into Modified, the number of classes for NTS (Northwest True Scale) is now 10.
Following are the 10 classes:
1....NASCAR
2....NASTRUCK
3....Modified
4....Sportsman
5....Can-Am
6....LeMans
7....Trans-Am
8....Slammer
9....Indy.
10...962
I plan on racing each class at least 3 times for the 2026 season.

The Porsche 962 races on Thursday Thunder nights (Nov. 20, March 18, and April 16) will be called the 962 Challenge and will be a points series. Plaques 1st. 2nd. and 3rd. will be awarded. These dates, like the schedule are not in stone yet, but the series is in stone!

Re: Plans so far for the 2026 season. (20 replies, posted in Northwest True Scale Racers)
Steve, if you go to the rules for the Modifieds, it has a picture of the chassis, copied from a Hanna chassis. This chassis has been in the rules since day one. The combining of Late and Early Modified is still the same chassis, no difference whatsoever. You can go ahead and make a chassis out of the thin material if you want, but you must copy the Hanna type chassis.
BTW: A Hanna type chassis consists of 3 pans: the center pan, left pan and right pan. The side pans can not move up and down or back and forth, only from side to side.

Modified rules. This is not in stone yet. Here is my idea and we will have a test session at Rapid to test this out to see if it is doable.
Modified part 1:
1....Chassis: Hanna or a direct copy of a Hanna chassis.
2....Any hard body car from 1928 to present. No convertibles or chopped tops.
3....Bodies wider than 2.500", measured at the bottom (after cutting down) in the middle from front to back will be declared wide
chassis.
4....Body height: 1.600" minimum measured from the top of the highest part of the roof to the bottom of the chassis.
5....Maximum tracking for a wide body: back 3.250", Front 3.250".
6....Tires: all tires will be black. Front: Minimum diameter: .875". Minimum width: .500" no coning or grooving, can coat them.
Back: Minimum diameter is .900".
7....Motor: Pro Slot S16D or Parma S16D with Chinese arms. Can use bearings or bushings at both ends.
8....Axles: front axle must be one piece that extends to each wheel. Axles can be 1/8" or 3/32". Can use bearings or bushings.
9....Gears: 64 or 48 pitch, plastic or brass.
10..A motor with radiator must be installed.
Part 2: Bodies narrower than 2.350" will be considered narrow chassis.
1....Tracking to be 3.500" front and back. Otherwise, the rules above are all the same.
I plan on having a test session with these cars during the off season to see how the tracking rules work out.

The schedule above has been updated with classes for each date. Each class is raced 3 times during the 2026 season. This schedule is not in stone yet. I am combining the Early Sportsman and Late Sportsman into one class called simply Sportsman. I have not gone over the rules for that class yet.......stay tuned. See ya, Howie.

Bob, the schedule is not in stone yet. You are right, May is too busy for me too! I just don't like the True Scale classes to sit around and collect dust. So, I am trying to race each class 3 times and I only have one track to figure it out. I am still working on it, and I may have to go into the first part of June. Stay tuned.............................it isn't over yet! Ok, I took May 28th. off the schedule, I had a question mark on that date anyway on my notes at home. Back to the drawing board! Also, I am thinking on combining the Early Sportsman and Late Sportsman and naming it just Sportsman. That way I believe I can race each class 3 times next season.

I am planning on combining the Late Modified class and the Early Modified into one class called Modified for the 2026 season and beyond. I am adding some new rules (nothing major). Your Modified car from last season will more than likely be good for the next season and beyond. Bill and I are going to have a test day during the off season and try to come up with a plan for a narrower Hanna chassis to compete with the wider Hanna chassis without a major change................stay tuned..........Howie.
I also plan on racing each of 11 True Scale classes at least 3 times per year so the cars will not sit around collecting dust!
............Howie.

As of the start of the 2025 season, the 962 Columbia Gorge Championship is no longer. As this was a race event at all the tracks in the area, it was voted out. The 962 will remain a fixture at Northwest True Scale (Rapid Raceway). I am planning on a series of races for the 962 with points for the 2026 season.................................Howie.

Northwest True Scale has 11 classes as it stands now, and I am not going to add any more. I have tentatively combined (not in stone yet) the Early Modifieds and Late Modifieds into one class called simply: Modifieds. I may have to have two classes run on a Thursday Thunder night, two times through for each class but shorter heats depending on the turnout. I am trying to schedule the classes for the 2026 season so that each class is raced at least three times, not as easy as it sounds!
