I've thought about it a bit, and addressed all my concerns by talking with the Tacoma Wizard of all things slot, Tony.  So it shall be Group C as follows:

Motor: Orange End Bell
Pod: Inline - any version allowed
Gears: Stock will do OR you can adjust if you prefer - my feeling is that stock is perfectly adequate for the Penguin Point track
Tires: N22 - Monte will try to have extras on hand
Wheels: Stock
Magnet: Removed - non-mag

Added ballast must be inside the car.

Suspension systems (magnetic or spring) and independent front wheels are not allowed at this time.

I plan to have loaners available for anyone that doesn't have a car.

Group C is:

Porsche 956 (any version)
Porsche 962 (any version)
Jaguar XJR (any version)
Sauber C9
Toyota 88c
Mazda 787b
Lancia LC2 (any version)
Nissan R89C

Any of these cars should be competitive and this should give everyone the same level playing field.  And on the plus side, many of us probably already have some of the cars on this list.

I think the time has come to put the Ninco Class to rest for a while.  I think most of us have had opportunity to shout "Ninco" whenever an errant wheel decided to bail on the race.  I've glued on most of my wings more times than I can to count, which for those that know me is a frightening admission.

So, let's call it a day and congratulate Tracy on his accomplishment of winning the Ninco Any Car Class.  Well done young lad.  You are our first Champion.

Ok, we've enjoyed the moment but the moment is over, on to the future.

I suggest the next class be Slot.It cars.

My first thought is either Group C or the Classic cars.  You can see them all listed here.

I'll be happy to entertain thoughts, concerns and whatever else you'd like to add to the discussion.

You have the floor...

Thanks gents, the pleasure is ours.  And a pleasant day it was as thirteen racers came to play on a day that would see the Portland Timbers win the MLS Championship.

As it was, we had the Pony Car proxy cars here so we ran our typical Ninco round but after that it was out with the proxy cars and we consumed the remainder of the day piloting pony cars around the track.

This will be the final race of the Ninco Any Car series for the time being.  Starting the first of the year we'll replace the Ninco class with a new Slot.It class.  Details to be announced soon.

And now, yesterday's results:

Ninco Class - Any Car

1.  Jeff Fields - 46.1 laps
2.  Monte Saager - 44.9
3.  Goose Gossett - 44.2
4.  Thomas Flood - 43.2

I spent the afternoon yesterday with Al and Mitch at Al's new track.  By the time I departed there was lap counting and power control.  Looks like it won't be long now.

Don't we have an open date?

You must achieve a Zen state.  Find your inner rhythm.  Then speed it up!

Hey, we can cook Goose just as well.  Happy T-Day everyone.

Anybody got an extra BRM 962 body?

In my best Princess Bride imitation:

"Sorry.  You keep using that word.  I do not think it means what you think it means"

We had a great time as well.

Great report Chris.

I'd like to point out that at the midway point we were 4th or 5th.  But as stated - when you have to keep swapping motors and to Chris credit it was only a 15 minute time loss each time - it's still a lot of ground to make up.  Ask Tony's team who took almost one entire 51 minute heat to get a motor swapped.

The car ran really well.  I was hoping we would have gotten a Ferrari but a Porsche it was.  There was no slide of the rear tires, it was grip 'til you tip.  And the most important advice - don't be the rider.

Best moment - seeing us 4th in front of most of the heavies.  Worst moment - seeing the new motor we just swapped in was slower than the failing one we took out.

I'd like to thank Victoria for driving me home after the event.

It takes a good building in the first place to make a proper modification.

Thanks to Bryan and Sherry for hosting the opening round of the 2016 NASTE season.  A good crowd of 20 racers.  I know I had a great time but those cars seem to be getting smaller every year.

And congratulations to Victoria on her victory in the novice class.

Sounds great but no time this weekend.  Plus I prefer to go when Alan is in the shop.  Sounds like he's had a trip to the hospital and not quite back to the shop yet.

Very cool.  What are you going to whittle the body out of?
