I got a number of projects going on now!

I forgot to take pictures of some, but I will later tonight.

I did pick up this Hanna "style" car to build up for OSCAR and PASER nascar races that are coming up.

I will be attempting to copy it with revised chassis height for the Rapid Nascar class as well.

It was well used and needs some general cleaning and tweaking before being built back up. So I got started on that last night.

The front axles are somewhat mis-aligned and the wheels have horrid runout, so I am trying to decide whether that matter with an ORING or not.....

Well I am definitely head over heals for 1/24 racing at the moment. Much more technical in nature and they feel less like "toys" to me. A good blend between my racing and rc roots, and small scale "affordable" fun.

I used to build my own RC brushed motors back in the day (10 years ago). So I am going to be getting back into that some and trying to extract some performance.

This was a good article I found on basic blueprinting of the Pro Slot 16d, all the way through to some serious modifications!

I just thought I would post this video up I found while trying to fill my brain with useless toy car knowledge.

I know Rico was asking about this at one point. Seems like a good video.

I will be interested to see today what car has been chosen for this race!

I have every faith Chris and the guys are going to have a rocket of a car tuned up by the time I get there SAT morning!

Thanks for posting these! Looks like I can probably get something together for Can Am pretty easy. Nascar might be a little harder!

I talked with Stan yesterday and he won;t be making the event this year, he's had some issue arise that will keep him at home.

See ya'll Saturday morning if not before.

Zack, plugs sound like a good idea, I'm interested.

I ordered a pack of them off of Amazon this morning. So I should be able to do 2 or three controllers no problem. We can easily remove them after the race.

Just an update from me. I have my schedule for this week with SEMA going on. I will be flying back in Friday night.

I will be at the track, ready to burn some laps SAT morning at 830-9am. Looks like the race is scheduled to start at 10am.

I will be soldering some 4mm banana plugs on the alligator clips of my Difalco controller, it was apparent at the team race this year that the alligator clip connection is pretty unreliable with his style of hookups. I can bring more plugs and soldering equipment if needed.

I had a great time at my first race with you guys. Even with a unfortunate gear failure. Luckily Bob Sorted me out!

I will keep tweaking these cars, and be back for more in a couple weeks!

Does the points class alternate or will it be sportsman again?

Special Thanks to Howie and Bill for helping me get going!

Zack

I wont be making it.....whos going to capitalize? Lemans was heated last time!

I found this thread extremely helpful as I have been researching and getting cars going for racing at Rapid Raceway. So I thought I would try and keep it going!

I got a Scholer from Bill yesterday to use for a few of the classes. My goal is to have it going for TA2 by Saturday, might be a bit ambitious.....

But I took it home last night and stripped it down to the bare chassis plate. Flat block sanded it, and flattened the rattle plate that was slightly bent.

I soaked the hardware, and went to work putting it back together! I aligned the bushings and straightened the bearing holder (one was tweaked pretty good!

I left off last night with a bare chassis ready for assembly. My body shows up tomorrow then I can get to work trying to get it mounted up and ready to roll!

I ended up getting this 1/25 2016 Camaro. Hopefully it works out alright with some flares!

This looks like one for the bucket list for sure!

Looks like he has a fair amount of parts in stock there....is he open to the public or club members?

I know many of the guys in the club have picked up truers lately. I made a couple of videos and posted them on youtube on how I use and finish my tires.

I have a Scaleauto, but you should be able to use the techniques on any of the truers.

The videos are kind of long, but probably worth it if you are just getting going.

The links are here.

Man does that white and red car look good!  I knew it could go as fast as it looked good, just don't have the time anymore to mess with them.  THANKS!!

Chris, you just need to get some inserts or mill down these old wheels and you will be all good to go dude! It may also benefit from a different guide, but the stem diameter in this chassis wasn't the same as my other cars for some reason.

Either way, she jams pretty good!

I finished up Chris's 908/3 last night. Blistering quick little car now! A little regret is slowly seeping in as I was doing laps last night....hahaha

All three of these cars are running within 1 tenth of a second on my track. The Carrera 6 is extremely quick, but being narrower and having a relatively heavy body make it pretty tippy on limit even with a lot of lead....

Since I got my truer I've got my 908 running some decent laps. I gutted my favorite 906 to build the Cheetah  but then the Mailman came, now I can put the 906 back together.

I learned something though, true Urethane tires fast, but Rubber tires slow, and let it run until it's running free or the tire is all balled up like and old sweater.

These are good lessons! Yes you have to run the truer very slow, especially on super grips and ultra grips. I actually have a fan mounted on my truer now, that has allowed me to make much faster cuts without overheating the tire. It also blows away the chunks that tend to get stuck on there and cause problems for you.

Some other truer tips and tricks:

A rounded edge on the tire usually takes away some chatter. I use a nail file that is 80g on one side and about 150g on the other. I start course and then follow up with the smoother side. This will often still leave a rough finish, so a little lighter fluid on a paper towel with a firm finger will smooth them out. It will also take the small sanding lines out of the tire, yielding a faster tire right off of the truer.

A small dab of CA glue on the shaft will allow you to true plastic wheels, the slot.it ones are the easiest as they go all the way through.

Lastly. some of the wheels (even aluminum ones) are not that true. I mount up the wheel first and use a small square file on the wheel to make sure that the mounting surfaces are parallel etc. This also roughs up the wheel a little for gluing!

I just finished a Fly Carrera 6 up for this class as well. It is a solid running little car the requires a little less work with than the Spirit to get into shape. The Chassis was extremely warped on mine, but I think this is mostly from how the car was stored long term.

I have it running right with or even slightly faster than the Spirit, partly because it is lighter and thus has good acceleration.

Parts are basically the same as before. Except I utilized the CB design "classic" wheels which closely resemble the stock ones. Rear tires are 21.5x10 NSR Supergrips.

I am building a 908/3 and a Lola t70 also right now, I am on a mission to get all of them down to the time of my 512, they are such great cars to work with and see go around the track.

Doc, I messaged a couple people I am waiting to hear back. I think it is legal as well myself.

I know for certain the mk1 and probably the mk2 are legal. Making the spyder mk2 version of the car that thunderslot makes likely legal for the series. I think the Mk3 just misses the mark.

Yes was mucho. So so  I think I have found a car that some how has been under every body radar or there keeping hush hush M on it for the scca proxies. Why not the lola t70 spyder. From I can see it ran any many many secs races

I need to dig through the last few years race by race. But I am pretty sure only the mk1 and mk2 raced before the cutoff date.

The Elva from thunderslot however would be legal if out in time.
