The turn out last Thursday was only 5 racers but it still turned out some close competitive racing.
First class up was LeMans Classics, which has long been a tightly contested class and Thursday was no different. Doc and I were dueling with our 908's when he decided to apply one of the afore mentioned hip checks on me and an off with only two marshals was a killer and as we all know when you get behind you try a little too hard to catch up which usually causes more offs and that was exactly what happened. Doc went on his merry way to finish in first followed by Greg in his rent-a-racer and Al in third only one tenth adrift.
Next up was GT-3 which is proving to be a really fast and competitive addition to our racing. After the dust had settled it was me leading the way with my Black Arrow Ferrari 458 with Doc hot on my heels .5 behind with his NSR C-8 Corvette. Al was not far behind with his NSR C-6 Corvette.
As previously mentioned we tried out the NSR 908 IROC cars for the last race in place of our regular Open class. The 908's are well prepared by Doc and the racing was very close and intense. In one of the heats I trailed Doc but was right on his tail and finally managed to sqeeze by him and put a small gap on him which only lit a fire in him and he came inching back and when he got close enough he applied another hip check on me. I'm not sure what I did to deserve his wrath but this time I was able to recover to third place .3 behind Doc. Al very quietly came home first .4 of a lap ahead of Doc.
Race cars are neither beautiful nor ugly. They become beautiful when they win.
