Thanks Bill. I'm glad to get some usage out of those things. I figured if they could survive Tek, then NASTE would be a breeze. Not even a loose wheel. Ahhhh, the power of the mighty NC-1.

No, I think we are not going to allow for scratch-built chassis. That really starts to tip the scales. The motor list is defined. Use whatever wheels and tires you want as long as they look scale. No O-rings and such.

Come join us for a fun day of rallying around the greater Portland area. The NASTE Carlo will take place on a multitude of different tracks with your individual stage times being totaled to determine overall and class placings.
Last years overall winner was not decided until the final run of the final stage and then the difference was a mere two seconds!
Three classes are offered:
Modern, Vintage and Group B.
Contestants are limited to two entries either in the same class or split between different classes.
The NASTE Carlo. Coming to a road near you soon.
Come get NASTE!

A day of crazy racing was endured by 10 hearty souls. After the debacle of the NASTE night with the Off Road track, we resolved the issue and decided to leave the track up for the first Sunday event. I think Crazy Racing about sums it up.
The food was pretty darned good as well.
For starters we ran a double elimination tournament. The rules were devastatingly simple. 4 laps for each driver, two in each lane. Once the first car crosses the finish line after two laps, both cars stop. After re-positioning, the drivers switch lanes and once again it's a 2-lap race to the finish. Since most of us can count to two lap counters were not required.
Top of the heap was Tracy followed by Dorothy "The-In-Your-Face-Disgrace-Hammer, Destroyer of men, women and small children" and Terry who's status at last rendering was still uncertain.
After that we ran a wild and wooly relay race won by the team of decided underdogs. Three laps and swap drivers. First team to have all 5 drivers finish wins. And yes, my team won. About time. I'd like to thank my teammates for carrying me to victory. I'd also like to thank Victoria for showing up just in the nick of time.
After the crazy racing concluded we removed the off-road track in record time and opened the Pen for practice laps. While some took to the track others put on a Beatles concert "Rockband" style in the living room.
Was it "only 20 years ago today"?
A pleasant afternoon was had by all.

The more I look at this car the more intrigued I am to have one. Anyone ever tried one of these. I don't expect breath-taking performance, more just a cool car from the old days.
I've added it to my want list right next to the Garvic and the Classic Asp.
Now if you happen to have these sitting around and are willing to move them do let me know, thanks!

This past Saturday we had the pleasure of greeting some new racers. One of them looks to be a force to be reckoned with. His name is Stan Smith and he's recently moved to our area from California. He sent me a couple of pictures of his track that he's currently putting back together after a rather grueling move - for a slot car track. Take a look and see what you think.
Welcome Stan!

Actually the off road track has been repaired. The issue was the power terminal track.

A big thanks to all that came out to race last night, that was a great crowd!
I'm sorry we had issues with the off road track and had to scrap it before we started but at least we were able to quickly remove it and proceed. We had some new racers come out last night and it looks like the man from Newburg - Stan Smith - will be another force to be reckoned with.
I sett the off road track back up and were going to test it some more today. I think I already have it solved but more testing will tell.
