WOW! That car is beautiful Rico. I can't see a problem with it. It looks pretty to scale to me. The Shadow is my all time favorite Can-Am car. Looking forward to seeing it in person.

Not only was Bad Bob a slot car guru, he was also a good dirt biker. He asked me to go on a dirt bike trip across the Columbia river to the Washington side. He provided me with a good dirt bike beings mine isn't legal these days. It was an all day event and I had a very good time with him and a friend of his. I took this picture of him during the trip on Aug. 3, 2012.
I will miss BB a lot, he was a good friend, good sense of humor, all around good guy. He will always be a big part of my memory, especially at slot car events. He was a major player in keeping the 1/24 slot car scene going in the Portland and surrounding area.
He and I always enjoyed teasing each other about Harley's vs. Honda's, Yamaha's and any thing but a Harley for Bad Bob!I will forever miss that.
RIP BB.

We have 5 guys on the Can-Am committee now. That is probably enough, but if two more want to join in that is fine.
Thanks to those who volunteered.

I agree with Bill 100%. This body issue has been going on for too long! Here is what I am going to do at Rapid: Get a committee of 7 racers who will have the power to vote on what body is legal. I have talked to two racers already about this and they said they would be on the committee with me. So I need 4 more racers. The body list on the Can-Am rules will be eliminated. If you want a body that may be controversial then you need to bring a picture of the 1 to 1 car and the slot car body. If a car shows up for a race and looks to be an illegal car, the committee can check it out and if it is indeed voted to be an illegal car then it can't race, not even a DQ!
This will take effect before the next race on Feb. 22, 2020.
This is a HUGE relief to me, the thing will not be just on my shoulders any more! I may even vote this class in some day!
If you are interested to be on the committee please email me at howieandsandy@hotmail.com or call me at 503-252-7692.

Don't worry about it Tom, we have all been there! The main thing is to just keep coming back and you will get the hang of it. A "tippy" car is not fun for any one, new or an old timer. Sounds like a little weight may help. At any time you can always ask questions, we are there to help if we can. Zack is very helpful to the new guys as are others.

Lance "Oggie" Oggero's project for the Early Modified chassis session at Rapid on 2-1-'20. There were 3 guys building cars for the session, Tommy, Lance, Bart. I only have pictures of Oggie's '32. Perhaps Bill or Zack can get more pictures of the session on here.

Re: The NASTE chassis! (49 replies, posted in Rapid Raceway)
What I like about what Zack is doing:
#1 veteran racers and new racers alike will not have to look on line or wherever to find a legal ( for Rapid Raceway ) chassis any more.
#2 The chassis is going to have stronger parts such as the rattle pan, guide tongue, axle brackets. That is a big plus!
#3 American nuts, bolts, axle holes etc. YES!
#4 This chassis is good for 4 classes at Rapid Raceway ( TA2, NASCAR, NASTRUCK, Porsche 962 ) so if you want you can use this one chassis by adjusting tracking and wheelbase and maybe pans. That is also a big plus if you don't want to spend unnecessary $.
Can't wait to get my hands on a 2NASTY chassis!......................................................... Poetry in motion!!

Bill put in a lot of time also, he helped me clean rubber off the track and braid and sprayed the track with the glue. I really never did the spray as I was afraid it would get all over and make a big mess, but it did great! That is the way I will go from now on. I know if the braid is clean our guide flag brushes will last a lot longer. I was very happy with the track condition last night. It will stay that way!

Topic: Chassis building session. (6 replies, posted in Rapid Raceway)
Jan. 11, 2020: the first chassis building session is now history. It was a very successful event. We were building a Can-AM chassis out of a Flexi type chassis. I thank Bill, Zack, Marty, Ted for helping with their skills at soldering and planning. I thank Bob the parts guy for bringing the running gear necessary to do the build, the parts took up two card tables! Thanks to all the guys who participated. Our intent was for every one who wanted a Can-Am chassis to at least have a roller by the time the session was over and I believe we accomplished that.
I am planning on having another session for the Early Modified and Sportsman chassis as soon as the schedule allows.

This was a very fun night of racing, thanks Bob for installing the 962 race on your schedule. I believe the Columbia Gorge Championship is going to get bigger as time goes on and racers find out how much fun it is.
Team Blue Groove makes a very durable and nice looking 962. Some of the very big crashes that I witnessed, ( including mine! ) would have destroyed a thinner body or at least make a person use up a lot of tape!! I am hoping Team Blue Groove makes more 1/24th. Can-Am bodies.

Mt. Goat; here is my email: howieandsandy@hotmail.com
We can talk in detail about the Can-Am and any questions you have regarding Rapid Raceway, classes, rules etc.
PS: we do not have a total cost on the parts for the Can-Am yet. Our parts guy, Bob, will put together a total parts cost for each car. Bill has bodies here for free, we have chassis also for free as long as they last.
