The red one appears to be an Eldon with different wheels/tires on the back. It is a Ferrari P3/P4, their 906 shell is very similar, the glass just differs a bit.
The other one is a Porsche 917 lexan body on what looks like an early Parma chassis.

Not that we don't have enough classes already, but digging thru the drawers it occurred to me that between Revell/Monogram and Carrera there are a lot of interesting stock/Nascar type cars from say '57 - '72. with the new releases from Scalextric, ( Monte Carlo-Thunderbird) this could be extended into the late 70s/early 80s. They include the big three, Ford, Chevy and Mopar, all are tunable to an extent and there are 3D chassis available for most of them, not that they make much difference.
There may be a way here to exhibit some custom work/tuning in a fun way.
There is a wide range to choose from.
I know as a club we don't race NASCAR, I think they did modern cars for a bit before I was around.
Just thinking out loud.
I see that Thunderslot is coming out with an Elva MKl
But I didn't want to buy another one.
Maybe I'll bring Chris over to visit her sister.
Zack, so I suppose you're going to kick my ass on my own track this weekend........................figures.............
It's your track Bill, you can report the final score any way you want.
If you want to throw out a curve ball you can always race old Monogram cars IROC style. I even know where there are a few in 1/24 scale.
Doc, I don't know what your building but I have a sidewinder pod for this motor if your interested. The body needs to be rather wide though and the IPS is inline only.
Mine may not have been fast but it ran for 32 minutes...This time.
I think I may have a couple also Doc. Greg AKA Greenman had a bag of those motors. he speced them for the TLOR proxy in the tiddler class.
I guess I had better bring mine
Wow, that's some close racing. I was a spectator/marshal for this one, I plan to compete in the next one.
Bob should have them, if I remember right Tom from Bend won.
I built my first wooden box when I started drag racing with the club in Vancouver. I built it to hold 10 cars confident that that would be all I would ever need.
within a couple of months I had to choose which cars I was taking to the track and which ones I was leaving home.
It's a sickness.
On a side note, one nice Saturday morning I thought I'd just strap that box to the back of the Harley and ride on up there. Well the Harley doesn't ride as well as the front seat of my pick-up. I spent the entire morning at the track reassembling slot cars that had been shaken to pieces.
Yes, excellent deal.
Even though I didn't race, it was great Bob, now I have even more parts scattered all over my bench and kits in the mail.
I'm still trying to finish my TA ll chassis, I was hoping to use an extra sportsman chassis for a couple of races but the wheelbase is wrong. Meanwhile my late model sportsman will have to go another round. I had bought a '64 Fairlane body for this year but it is a bit too narrow for this chassis.
Doc,
I've read other post from guys who are doing the same thing just one tire at a time.
Thanks Zack,
I may have to do some tires over, I may have missed a couple of steps. Already My truer has made a big difference in performance.
I may not be a better driver, but it feels like it. It also makes Scalextric and Ninco look like better manufacturers.
Some cars that I had given up on suddenly have come to life.
Since I got my truer I've got my 908 running some decent laps. I gutted my favorite 906 to build the Cheetah but then the Mailman came, now I can put the 906 back together.
I learned something though, true Urethane tires fast, but Rubber tires slow, and let it run until it's running free or the tire is all balled up like and old sweater.
Yeah Doc,
I get the intent of the proxy. While I can't drive my Thunderslot really any faster than the top 5 cars that I qualified, I can match the top 5 cars without doing any of the work.
Audie's intent was to build the best car that you can and enter it into like competition, it was never meant to be about the best car you can buy.
I have 3 Ford GTs, a Ferrari and now a Lola set up to these specs mainly because that is the type of car I enjoy the most.
I will probably dig thru the drawers and find something for the proxy, maybe an MRRC geared down to handle that 24K Policar
motor.
Some of those guys had great running cars using the stock chassis. One of the guys had a mostly stock Carrera Cheetah that ran better than any of my Carreras have ever ran.
Just for kicks I gutted my Thunderslot spyder and set it up to classic ll specs. What a hoot, I may just leave it that way, I could run it all day without getting bored with it.
But I won't enter it in the SCCA proxy or probably not the GT40 either, I don't think I could stand the whining.
I may put a 3D chassis under a Revell '63 Corvette body. I love that split window.
Yes the MKll raced in at least Las Vegas in 1966, and at Riverside in 1967. Probably in several more races, But I just watched newsreel footage of those two races on You Tube. Jim Hall, john Surtees, ect as drivers.
To think I was in Central Oregon for 25 years and had no idea that anyone was racing.
If we get enough for a race Zack maybe we'll find something unusual to race.
