Topic: My Buddies company....building me a Pit box!

My former co-worker and friend Shane is a very talented wood worker. He has a side company called PDX Design Studio.

He has a CNC router and laser engraving capabilities, as well as all the old school tricks.

I commissioned him to build me a pit box, mostly for 1/24 racing because it requires a completely different set of equipment than I use currently for 1/32 cars.

It is going to be a completely modular design, so you can add shelves, cupboards etc. in any configuration. This should allow storage changes depending on the cars etc.

Anyway, they charge a bundle online for these and the shipping was a killer. He local, and the price was right! I will update with finished photos when she is all done!

I built my first wooden box when I started drag racing with the club in Vancouver. I built it to hold 10 cars confident that that would be all I would ever need.
within a couple of months I had to choose which cars I was taking to the track and which ones I was leaving home.
It's a sickness.

On a side note, one nice Saturday morning I thought I'd just strap that box to the back of the Harley and ride on up there. Well the Harley doesn't ride as well as the front seat of my pick-up. I spent the entire morning at the track reassembling slot cars that had been shaken to pieces.

My box is all finished up!

This won't be for use every week, but it will be great for me 1/24 racing. Where I am likely to have a good amount of spare tires, bodies, etc.

I am very pleased with how it came out! Shane's quality is top notch and the price couldn't be beat. Looking forward to loading it up for the PASER race on Sat!

Bill, he built me this box for $130 bucks. I am sure he would do one for you for the same price. He is mostly a hobbyist who just enjoys turning out cool stuff!

All loaded down for the first race. New drawer liners installed.

14 cars, a controller, tools, spares, chemicals all in one box!

If there was no lettering work a nice carbon  fiber  wrap would of look good. But I think a light color stain to bring out the grain work and clear coating  is all it needs
