Topic: Al Christiansen's new Track

Work is progressing on Al Christiansen's new track in NE Portland. Were not sure yet if the easy part is over and the hard part is starting, or the hard part is over and the fun part is getting underway.

Great job guys!

Re: Al Christiansen's new Track

All the routing is done and the pieces are cut out, now it's assembly time. Trying to mount a guide into a 1/24 scale RC car for testing, but the garage feels like an oven this evening.

Re: Al Christiansen's new Track

I spent the afternoon yesterday with Al and Mitch at Al's new track.  By the time I departed there was lap counting and power control.  Looks like it won't be long now.

Don't we have an open date?

Re: Al Christiansen's new Track

Yes we do, and I've been holding it for Al in the hope he would get his track done. Looks like it was worth the wait!!!

Re: Al Christiansen's new Track

I made it over to Al's today to check out his new track. I must say I am impressed! Al did a masterful job building this track! It features beautiful stainless sheetmetal walls to keep the cars off the floor. Al used small colored paint dots to mark the lanes for a cool and unique look. The track features copper tape for electrical contact. The track surface is black laytex over a Rustoleum "Magnetic" Primer base, which provides down force more cars equipped with traction magnets. The power supply is variable and provides plenty of power for any 1/32 cars, as well as 1/24 cars! A Race Coordinator system provides lap counting and timing for the track through the use of a dead strip. This is going to be a FUN track to race on!

Re: Al Christiansen's new Track

Wow!!!  Even my wife thinks that looks awesome!!!  Can't wait to get some rubber down on it.

Looks great Al (and Mitch).

Re: Al Christiansen's new Track

Al's track is better suited to the BRM Porsche 962s with its wider shoulders/aprons. Al used dimensions of 7" for turn aprons based on the length of the BRM Porsches. I ran my BRM 962 around for a few laps and although it was a little loose it was a lot of fun to run on Al's track!

Re: Al Christiansen's new Track

Al has named his track!

Welcome to Rippin' Ridin' Raceway!

Re: Al Christiansen's new Track

Re: Al Christiansen's new Track

Great racing tonight, thanks Al.

Re: Al Christiansen's new Track

I'll second that.  I'm also very glad to have survived the carnage of the BRM race.  I've got to find a replacement for Brutus, he's just not stable enough any longer.

Re: Al Christiansen's new Track

I was glad to have survived the classics, GT, and 50's classes too!!!  It was a fun night though, thanks Al!
