And to you!
Could that possibly earn Jeff yet another nick name? Let's see, so far we have The Kid, Sparky, Wrong Way, Loose Wheel, (I think I'm missing some), and now Lucille..............I'm kinda likin' Lucille!!!
Odd Thursday Night Racing on December 29th at TooBad Motorplex. We had a great turnout with 16 racers for the point race. Gone is the snow and ice, and temperature-wise the garage was comfortable with all the bodies providing some additional heat. Of course the racing was hot and close! The widest margine of victory in any class was 1.1 laps! Highlights included Dan Fritz scoring yet another second place finish! I believe he holds the record for the most runner up finishes in NASTE racing history! Maybe we should start calling him Doc 2?
Here are the results:

One nice thing about working in the garage this time of year, if I get so involved that I forget about my beer on the bench, it's still cold when I remember.
HAPPY NEW YEAR
Congrats on your win Doc and you're right the racing is close and intense.
Odd Thursday Night Race January 5 2017. First race of 2017, cold, but the racing was hot! We started the night of racing with our F1 Class. Monte Saager placed first overall with his new F1 Policar, with Jeff Fields, Greg Petrolati, Terry Abbott, Mitch Brooks, Chris Kouba, Rico Locati, and Bryan Dickerson all scoring division wins. The second race of the night was the NASTE Point Series Championship race with the Le Mans Class cars. Dan Fritz finally made the jump from his normal second place finish to finishing in first place, a well deserved win for an excellent racer! Congrats Doc! After the first two races we ran the Carrera Scramble Proxy.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOHHH........Cool!
A Fly? I like that car.
Yes, 8" here as well.
No matter how "hammered" I got, I never saw it up to 8 inches!
Employ the technicians rule of thumb...
1. Decide where you think the problem is on the schematic.
2. Put your thumb down and replace everything under it.
If the problem persists here is the applicable part:
3. Take a hammer and hit your thumb a time or two.
4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 as needed until problem solved.
A few whacks with the hammer will get you right up to 8".
Any questions?
I was right in not running my Policar Lotus last race. After some careful disassembly I found one of the lead wires had broken off at the guide. I am going to replace both wires just to be safe.
I think it was a clean sweep for Monte, he even won the proxy race. Overall a fun night of racing despite all of my failures. I've already ordered a new brake pot and some 14x6 wheels for the Lotus. I just have to figure out how mount a solid axle without destroying the suspension detail. I think this car has promise once I sort it out so be alert because everyone knows we need more lerts.
Some nights the magic works.
I really like the Policars. Looking forward to seeing a few more come out. Those alone would make for a great class.
Thanks to Al for having us over. And an extra thanks to those that stayed for the proxy runs. It amazes me how close the racing is with those cars. And how many wings go flying.
Al Christensen hosted some fantastic Odd Thursday night racing yesterday. The night started off with controller BBQ provided by Rico, followed by some very close racing in the F1 class. The F1 class race was followed by the Le Mans class NASTE Point Series Race, where the racing was again very close. For the final hours of racing we raced the Carrera Proxy cars which provided excitement for racers and corner marshals alike. After all the trigger pulling and car re-slotting Monte Saager had won both NASTE races, and his car posted a first place finish in the Carrera Proxy. Nice racing Monte!

Odd Thursday Night Racing at Rippin' Ridin' Raceway January 19, 2017.
F1 cars on the track.
Carrera Proxy Entries.
Rico had the fast lap of 6.5 with no brakes.
Maybe I should run without them more often? Truthfully, I did have some brakes thanks to what I call the magic little switch. Thank you Jim DiFalco. For most cars it is simply too much brake and I seldom use it.
BTW, I wish I had a 6.5 lap but in reality it was an 8.5 something.
I've done some playing around on the Lotus and I don't see any way to make use of a solid axle as the axle would be on the same plane as the chassis/guide holder. It would just take too much modification and the car would end up either nose up or nose down. However, all is not lost using the existing components and a judicious use of glue in the right spots. We'll see if it works next Thursday at the Koub's.
I had a lot of fun racing at last night's Odd Thursday race! Although the turn out was somewhat light, the enthusiasm was just the opposite! We had some very close racing and we also had the pleasure of meeting a new racer Fernando, who quickly adapted to the Too Bad Motorplex course.
We started the night of racing with the Can Am Class. Chris was the winner, followed by Terry, and Doc. Next up were the Le Mans Class car which was the NASTE Point Series Race of the evening. The top four cars in this race were all within one lap of each other. Rico posted his fifth point series race win of this season! Chris and Terry were in a tie for total laps, with Chris' faster lap breaking the tie for second. Everyone stuck around for the BRM Group C race which made for a near record setting number of entries. Chris again raced to the win followed by Dan in second and Rico in third. The Over 50 Class was raced with a field of eight, again another great attendance mark for the last class race of the night. Mitch was back up to speed and returned to the first place spot on the podium. He was followed closely, just 1/10th of a lap behind, by Al. Bryan ran a great race to finish third.
Highlights of the night's racing included Chris beaking the total accumulated laps record and the fastest lap time record in the Can Am Class. One of the closest finishes in a points race with Rico just 3/10ths of a lap ahead of Terry and Chris who were tied for second. Chris' 1/4 of a second quicker lap time over Terry secured the second place spot. In the wild BRM race Dan's Porsche made contact with the inside wall imbedding his car's front diaplane in the wooden structure. That was definitely a first at TooBad Motorplex! Earlier in the race Rico had taken an off-table excursion which destroyed the back end of his Porsche 962. Nobody ever said the BRM class was easy! In the Over 50 Class we saw three California Sportsman cars entered finishing fourth, fifth, and seventh. It really was a fun night! Thanks to all that made it out!
