Re: NASTE Odd Thursday Night Racing Rules & Current Thread

Odd Thursday Night Racing on April 2nd even! We had eleven racers on had for off cycle even race date. Gary Goose Gossett made a clean sweep of the evening finishing first in every race! Highlights included Monte Saager posting a second place finish with his Ninco AC Cobra in the Classic Sports Car Class. This is an all time high placing for a Ninco Cobra, probably in ANY class! Jimmy Jones was well on his way to a top three finish, but mechanical problems kept him out of the top three. Mitch Brooks posted a fourth place finish in the classic Sports Car Class, with John Morse only one tenth of a lap behind him in fifth. The racing was extremely close in the classic sports car race.

The Goose finished first in the Vintage F1 Class, but Jeff Fields was just one tenth of a lap behind him. In the BRM Porsche 962 Class the Goose killed us all winning by over four and a half laps! Al Christensen was on the podium in third. The Goose had a new car for the Over 50 Class, a Classic Manta Ray. The Classic Manta Rays seem to be awfully popular! Al Christensen had a second place finish in the Over 50 Class. Al seems to have his KTM powered Cheetah pretty well sorted out now! It was a fun filled evening with lots of racing, on the track as well as on the bench! Thanks to all who made it out!

Re: NASTE Odd Thursday Night Racing Rules & Current Thread

Thanks for the great evening out, always good to get some toy time.

The Cobra is making progress but still needs some taming.  But all in good time.  First I have to fix what I broke.

Re: NASTE Odd Thursday Night Racing Rules & Current Thread

Thanks Bill for another entertaining evening of racing, it's always a good time at Too Bad Motorplex. I think I may have a junk food hangover or I'm just tired from getting home so late. What I thought was going to be an improvement in the Trans Am  class, clearly wasn't, so I guess it's back to the drawing board.  I still giggle inside at how well that beat up, second hand BRM runs, just amazing. Although the Omron car shows great promise after just a few laps getting into the 8.3's.

Re: NASTE Odd Thursday Night Racing Rules & Current Thread

Bill: Thanks for a great night of hard/fun racing, even if it was "POOP ON GOOSE" night! Had a great time even when the Smooth was nerfing me on purpose, he is good at it! Thanks to all for sharing thier treats with me. Sure was nice to have Kuba back on the track with us.

Re: NASTE Odd Thursday Night Racing Rules & Current Thread

Don't pass an old, unstable car on the outside.  The even driver's worse.

Had a great time boys.  Thanks to Bill for having us.

Re: NASTE Odd Thursday Night Racing Rules & Current Thread

Thanks everyone, and especially Bill, for a fun night that I finally got to attend.  I miss the motley crew and swapping paint.  It looks as thought I will be making 2 in a row(!!!!) and will see everyone again next week, but we will see.  It was great to grab a car I hadn't had much time with and do so well in GT, and it's great to see how tight the competition is when looking at lap counts at the end of the night.  Lots of close battles!

Good times and looking forward to the next one.

Re: NASTE Odd Thursday Night Racing Rules & Current Thread

Hey y'all,

Just thought I'd check in. I'm feeling better. I go back to the doctor next Wednesday, so hopefully after that I'll be back up to speed.

Thanks to Monte for taking the Odd Thursday Race date for this Thursday the 21st. I'm sure everyone will have a great time running the proxy at Penguin Point, as well as our usual Odd Thursday classes.

Last note to John Morse. Thanks again for that way cool original Womp chassis! I don't think I've seen one that old and in as nice of shape! Original motor and all! I have a very nice old original Womp Corvette body I have had stashed away for some time. Next time you see that Womp I should have the body mounted on it, and it will occupy a spot in my display case!

Re: NASTE Odd Thursday Night Racing Rules & Current Thread

Victoria & Monte: Thank you for hosting the Thursday night racing. Enjoyed the wings and other food. Monte thanks for letting me drive the proxy cars, enjoyed that. I feel like i am coming to terms to learning to drive on you're track, had lots of fun on it last night.

Race is ON for this Thursday, June 11th !!!!

Re: NASTE Odd Thursday Night Racing Rules & Current Thread

Odd Thursday Racing, June 11th - Back Up and Running!

Feels like I've been out of circulation longer than the actual month. But we were back up and running for last night's Odd Thursday race. Extra stuff has invaded my garage so we had to put the pit tables outside, but the weather cooperated and it worked out fine. We had a total of ten racers in attendance racing four classes with four different winners. John Morse added to his Winner's List total with his second (first non-mag) win, with his outstanding drive in the Over 50 Class. Score one for the Manta Ray! Other highlights included Mitch Brooks win in the Classic Sports Car Class, followed by a visit from Bryan Trachsel who awarded Mitch a handbuilt custom trophy representing the NASTE Challenge Championion for 2015! Congrats to Mitch for winning the Challenge Championship for 2015!

Congrats to Al MEAT Chrsitensen of his fourth place finish in the Over 50 Class! Al races a KTM/Kemtron powered beast that he actuially raced in the 60s! Al has been massaging and tuning his Cheetah for the TooBad track and his efforts are paying off. When Al first started racing with us his Cheetah would barely get around the track. Now his beast is a front runner and contender evertime it's on the track! This is what the over 50 Class is all about! Great job Al!

Thanks to all that made it out last night! It was great to see you all and to be back on the track!  =======Bill

Re: NASTE Odd Thursday Night Racing Rules & Current Thread

Thanks Bill for the racing, BSing and snacks.  It was good to be racing again and it looks like I need to do some minor repairs to the Vette to keep ahead of the field.  For a few seconds I thought your power supply had blown up but it was just Al's Cheetah taking a turn in my lane!

Re: NASTE Odd Thursday Night Racing Rules & Current Thread

Thanks to everyone for another great night of racing and camaraderie, fantastic to have Bill up and at it again and health issues on the mend ! growing old is not for sissies!

Re: NASTE Odd Thursday Night Racing Rules & Current Thread

John Morse brought out a very cool tool for the club members to use here at TooBad Motorplex. John built a portable tire sanding station complete with an independent power supply and variable speed control. The components are housed in a beautiful handmade box. Features include brass inlaid contact strips for power to the car, and an inlaid machined aluminum block for sandpaper. The sanding station got plenty of break in time and it functioned perfectly! Thank you John!
