Re: Projects: Done/Not So Done

Finally did a test run with the finished Firebird at Springwater raceway on 3-26-'23. Need to fine tune it.

Re: Projects: Done/Not So Done

Now on to another project. This one is a true scale Classic NASCAR using the Pontiac Peak Antifreeze kit.

Re: Projects: Done/Not So Done

Doc; I have to send Bill the pictures and he installs them on the site. I thought I sent them to him this morning, but I just realized ( at about 4pm ) that I forgot to send them! First mistake I ever made in my life!

Re: Projects: Done/Not So Done

Back to the Classic NASCAR project. I am using a Hanna chassis #104 that has been in a LOT of races. I am installing Indy car Pro Slot rear tires for the front as they are a 1/8th. axle as the rules say 1/8th. axles only. I will trim down the tires to about .900" on the tire truer, rules say .850 minimum diameter. I will cut them to .500" width that the rules call for. I will have to cut the front axle housing  by .140" on each end to get down the the maximum tracking, which is 3.250". Also the pans will have to be trimmed to make room for the tires after the axle cut.

Picture coming as soon as Bill has time.

Re: Projects: Done/Not So Done

Project Classic NASCAR continues. Beings I am going to make Bob's Classic NASCAR race in Sept. I better finish this car. It needs all the running gear from motor to guide flag. I will have to get this car on the track and see if I can get it to run ok as it has the BIG true scale size tires/wheels! At any rate it should be a fun car. I thought I had a picture of the chassis, guess not. I will send Bill a picture to add to this page. I made the motor mount out of aluminum when I still had access to a mill at work.

Bill will install a picture when he gets time. Thanks Bill.

Re: Projects: Done/Not So Done

Wow, I just realized that I haven't posted my projects lately. I have the Pontiac Peak #42 done, it has been done quite a while and has raced at the Gorge Raceway one time and didn't handle worth a crap! I need to take the time to dial it in. But I did make a big wheel out of it so what do I expect?

The chassis picture is the finished chassis. Because of the tall (True Scale) tires, the chassis is quite high. so, I lowered the side pans to .060" clearance from the track. Where I used to work, I had access to a mill, so I milled the motor bracket out of aluminum.
