Topic: Clubman Class Racing at Tom's World in Bend
This past Saturday (Oct.19th) was OSCAR's Clubman race at Tom's World in Bend. For this race Tom chose to use the short course, which cuts the long straight in half, and eliminates the banked curve and the Deadman. The short course reduces the lap length to 77 feet by using just the tighter infield portion of the track. This makes for a very challenging track!
There were 14 racers in attendance for this race, with 14 Clubman Class sportscars to fill the grid. There were some beautiful cars in the field! Nick took the Concours honors with his beautiful Ferrari 250 GTO!
The race itself was exciting as well as exhausting. We raced 4 minute heats with 4 rounds, for a total of 64 minutes of on track racing for each racer. On a tight, challenging track like Tom's short course, it was gruelling to say the least! As usual and as expected, there were some racers that experienced mechanical problems, but not many. By the end of the race the top three had pulled away but, there were some very close battles in the middle of the pack. Here are the race results:
