Bill, I run mine every week still trying to get it right. I think I have it smooth enough now, now I just need to learn to drive the darn thing.

I might have an extra set, I'll try to remember to bring them.

I think it was actually "Boys Life". I think it was called that. The photo was of vintage F1 cars, though I don't think they were vintage then. The caption I think was about the fun of "nerfing " your buddies off the track. I guess nothing changes very much.

That picture, I remember seeing that picture when I was a kid. That one and a photo from an issue of I believe Life magazine are the earliest memories I have of slot car racing.

I just couldn't make myself pull the trigger on a Racer, but I found enough parts laying around to make my own version, and with that Pioneer motor it's pretty quick.

It is amazing what a little floor polish can do for these old car bodies.

I saw last night that the Salem Track (Edgewater) is listed in Portland's Craigslist for $3,000. Shame it was a nice track, I hope it finds a home.

My second chassis would not stretch out far enough for my AMT Bonneville body, but this option fit very well.

I bought a Revell 250 GTO body for my other chassis. I'm waiting for it to arrive from Canada. I'm starting to think Canada moves their mail by pack mule until it gets to the border.

Nice job on the wheels Rico. I have some here that I might have to take a wire wheel to, luckily I had some extras here that weren't too bad.

Mine too, now I find myself shopping for other people's cars from the 60s. Actually Dad's were better, but they really got rid of a lot of stuff when they came from California to Oregon. I assume that's where/when they went.

The last time I was in that old toy/ coin store in Oregon City, he had about 3 vintage 1/24 slot cars in his display case if anyone is interested. I didn't pay much attention at the time. I was looking for something else.

John, if you go to his online store you can get the tires made for that car. That being said, I ordered some last month, he sent them but included another set with a note that he actually prefers them on his own car. Let me know if your order doesn't fit I still have the ones in his online catalouge for that car.

Just when I gave up on my historic F1 and bought a Vintage F1, I'm digging around in my junk box at the far end of my workbench and I find some abandoned chassis with Slot it axles, a small gear and some steel insert wheels. I put them in my scalextric Ferrari. Wow, smooth fast and quiet. It's no longer legal due to the wheel change, but it is sure fun to drive. I think it is almost competitive with the vintage class. But now with the slightly smaller tires it looks more like a midget racer than an F1.

I got it from a guy in Seaside, it said it was "New Old Stock" for what that's worth. Everything but the body sure looks new. There was a separate box for the motor, it looked like it could have sat on a shelf for 50 years, it was yellow enough.

It came, it runs, it doesn't get any better than that. Well, with better tires it might get even better.

I managed to find two. The first is a beat up looking GT40 body on a K&B chassis that's supposed to be "new old stock", the other is an AMT body on a Strombecker chassis. Just what I needed another Bonneville.
