Today the body work on the MKII was completed. Next is painting the white base coat followed by Howie's masking and painting of the red flames!

No Doc, I did not save any of the benchwork, only the track surface. All the rest got cut up and taken to the dump.

I already contacted Howie. He said to just let him know when.

Cool!

One note in regards to Howie's power supply for Rapid Raceway. He uses a large commercial track type of power supply instead of a car battery and charger.

Howie runs Rapid Raceway at 13.5 volts. I'm guessing lap length must be somewhere around 90 feet? He is using Race Coordinator for a timing system.

Since it was brought up, check the new post for the class winners in the 2017 championship!

We raced three classes for the point series this year. Six races for each class. And YES, we have class champs, and I do know it!

"So how do we go forward?  When does the next "season" start?  What classes will we run and how will we decide?"
- Monte

As I am currently in a state of transition I have not given this much thought. I think September is a good time to start the official racing season. I have considered the idea of letting the top three finishers in the point series championship each pick one class to race for the next season. Kind of gives some added incentive and reward to finishing well. I am open to suggestions.

I will start a new topic on this....

I was looking back at some of the past seasons. Last year Flyin' Bryan and I were tied in points going into the last race which was the Shoot Out at Howie's Rapid Raceway. As I remember I won the championship by less than one lap! This year was also an extremely close race for the championship. Seven racers scored wins throughout the season, with four of them having multiple wins. It was an excellent season and I am very pleased with how it went!

It very well could be. There have other close finishes but right off hand I can't say how many.

Lists updated as of May 25, '17 races.

Yet another fantastic night of racing at Al's Rippin' Ridin' Raceway! It was the last race of the 2017 NASTE Point Series Championship. With the point spread so close we all knew it was going to be a close finish in the Classic Sports Car Class. Chris Kouba set the bar for the night running his three heats mistake free and setting the fastest lap of the night at 7.524 seconds. Chris was clearly after the win besting the field by almost three laps! Mitch Brooks finished second with Rico Locati just 6/10s of a lap back, and Dan Fritz was third just 2/10s of a lap behind Rico. The win gave Chris the NASTE Point Series Champion title for 2017. Congrats to Chris! It was a hard fought battle and Dan Fritz deserves credit for being one of the most consistant racers all year long. Along with Dan's two wins he finished second six times and third three times.

Due to prior commitments I was unable to attend the entire race last night, but here are the results:

Just preparing my "story" for my upcoming loss!...............OK, make that "excuse"...............

I'm currently in seventh and I would sure like a top 5 finish in the series. But I have a crap car..........I'll run the puke out of her!

Tomorrow is the final race in the 2017 NASTE Point Series Championship. This season has been one of the most competitive racing seasons I can remember. With one race remaining just two points separate first place from second place, and only three points separate fourth through seventh places! Tomorrow's race will be exciting!

Do I hear a new nickname in there somewhere?

..........................."Bugsy" ????

UGH...........

Well I once saw this bum pushing a shopping cart down the street in the snow during a blizard. In the shopping cart was a metal garbage can (remember those?) and in the garbage can was a blazing fire. So I was just thinking that driving down I84 pulling my trailer with this load of crap ablaze might look kinda cool!

Thanks Howie. That gives me options and it is greatly appreciated!

Haven't found any missing parts yet. That will probably come when I start sweeping up the mess! That part starts tomorrow..........
