I'm ok with whatever we choose to run but it seems like personal cars would in some ways limit us in what races some of us could attend.  I think we need to be sure that we have a set of loaner cars ready at each venue for those that might not have the selected car on that night.  Otherwise I'm happy with IROC.  As far as individual cars, I know we could pretty well come up with an extra set of either SCX GT's or NASCAR's.  I'm sure enough of us already have those.  But then we have to deal with tech inspection at each race.  Probably no issue, just an extra time element to consider on race night.

I think this is the class we will be moving to starting in September.  Any complaints or concerns?

A big thanks to the racers that came out last night to help us conduct the 4th round in the Fly Truck Proxy.

Here's the ongoing discussion

Rico, yes.  I would say the BWA NC1 would be a good choice.  Also the FF motor but not the higher speed versions that are in the Scaley GP cars.  With the narrow tires these cars will use, it would be hard to get a lot of power to the track anyway.

Matching SEAT's in yellow.  One is 2wd, the other is 4wd.  Lemme take a picture.

Class 1 would pretty much allow you to run anything from those companies with 22.5K or less motors.  Non-mag of course.

I think the Vintage F1 class would work well here since we don't have the killer speed at the end of the straight like some do.  We'd also limit it to motor size, those rocket motors would be out of line for this set.

The GT and LMP classes would allow us to run some different cars than what we normally run.  I've got a lot of cars, it would be nice to get to use some of them.  hmm

I'm just about to put up a couple of NC-1 powered rally cars on that auction site.  I thought about keeping them for motor donors.  Anyone that wants a couple of NC-1's better contact me soon!

The schedule has been confirmed for the remainder of this year.  What has not been confirmed is what sort of car we should run.  Comments gladly considered.  Possibles:

1.  Italian Challenge: Racer, Slot. It, NSR

2.  Ninco NC1 or NC5

3.  LMP - Any with motor restrictions

4.  GT - Any with motor restrictions

5.  Vintage F1

I run like the wind on a calm day.  If he hadn't had wings it might have been a different story.

So there we were in the middle of the first heat when I over-cooked a corner and came off.  And then I did it again...  I spent the rest of the heat trying to catch AJ.  Lap after lap I closed the gap until I finally caught him on the final turn on the final lap headed for the lap counter.  I had him... victory was within reach... then he smacked me into the wall and that was that.  The rest of the day saw Rico racking up heat victories like a man possessed.  Going into the final heat I had one more chance to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.  But I was in the outside lane, AJ had the middle lane and it was not to be.  Taking the heat victory and a tie for top honors of the day with the cherry-picking Rico was AJ.  We'll get 'em next time.

Rico now takes the lead in the hotly contested Fly Classics Lifetime Points Standings.

Here's the official totals:

Rico Locati: 26
AJ Locati: 26
Monte: 24
Dennis Hart: 22
Victoria: 17
David Harburg: 16
Dominic Locati: 14
Kelly Locati: 6

Howdy friends.  We're going to schedule the Fly Truck Proxy for Friday night, July 9th.  We'll hope to get started at 7pm.  If you are interested in helping out we can use drivers, corner marshals and assistance of all sorts.  We've got 12 trucks to work our way through.  I can't imagine it will take more than about 2 hours.  I've got controllers, all I need is you!

Thanks!

Thanks for hosting John, we had a great time.  We'll see you in September.  I thought the cars were a blast.

If they start out fast and then slow down over time that was our experience with the Scalextric cars as well.  We ran them as part of a 4-hour Enduro at Randy's track and as we all remember, they slowed so bad that after 40 minutes we just put a stop to that session.

You have oiled the motors and axle bushings?  You'll want to do that about every hour of running.

What part of town are you in?

Howdy David and welcome.

These are Scalextric cars?  You might want to switch to SCX cars, though eventually they will all slow down.

We can provide test cars if you need some.

Ok, so it appears we have suffered poor planning in our First Sunday series - too many holidays an issues.  We'll be moving to a stated schedule ASAP.  We'll post it just as soon as we get it figured out.

And since Randy has decided to push the start of the Beaverton season out to August that still leaves us two more months of Fly Classics at the Pen.

We'll keep you posted.

Questions, comments, smart remarks... you know what to do.
