We already have this class, and I have a little red Porsche that would love to play with Monte's silver one.

This class has been dominated by GT40s lately, but I have a Ferrari 250LM set up the same that's running about the same as any of my GT40s

I've watched these on Road Kill and You Tube. What a blast.

I've got all of them, in better shape than that.

Just remember the 8mm rear tires. If you're running a slot it GT40 and don't want to change wheels the stock size tires can be sanded down to 8mm, Paul Gage also sells an 8mm tire with a 5mm flange that will fit the stock wheel.
I've set up three of them like this, they all run well.
Why three? I'm a junkie.

Mine is 69' with the main power plus two taps, so I have power about every 23'.
I was able to run all of the 1/32 scale cars with C130 and FK 180 motors off of one power tap without any apparent issue, but the 1/24 scale cars with 16D motors really suffered about halfway around the track. The older Monograms and Over 50 cars also. We probably would have had to push Al's Cheetah around the far end.

If you're thinking flat you should go out and see Monte's. It's flat with no overpass. Then see Stan's, it's mostly that with an overpass. Two more options, both lots of fun.

Does Diane come out every couple of days to make sure you're still okay? Or do you come in at night?

First look at your space, decide what you want and what you want it to be able to do. Don't forget "ease of Marshaling".
The next biggest this is a good drawing. Al made a very detailed drawing with all of the radiuses on it. Take a good look at it next time you are there. It really simplified things.
When we built Al's track I had some time off. We built the table and cut and routed all of the pieces in a couple of days. Then I returned to work and he spent a good part of the winter putting it all together.
Mine took longer because I was working 60 hour weeks so I had to do it all in the evenings and on Sundays, and since I had a stroke a lot of things aren't as easy as they used to be.
I'm using RC on mine and so far haven't had any shutdown issues. If I do I'll probably add the track-mate hardware.
I initially drew mine without an over pass  but was encouraged from several directions to include one so I se did it and am happy with the result. If you do, don't forget about blind spots, not only from your height perspective but look at it from a taller viewpoint and a not as tall viewpoint. If you're going to end up with a blind spot try to make that a strait section of track. At Al's track we were limited by space and ended with a curve under the overpass which can be an issue for some. Bill's had a blind spot under his that he built a raised platform for, but after a racer fell off of it, it became a shelf. The taller racers had a bit more advantage after that
Between us in the group we should have all of the tools you would need so don't buy anything unless you wanted them for other things.
If you can't decide between tape or braid, route it for tape first you can always reroute it for braid later but you can't go the other way.

Thanks for having us Doc, it was a good time.

Too Bad Bill. It is a nice track. Thanks Stan I tried to come the last time but something came up at the last minute, I'm glad I made it tonight. Congrats to Monte and Tracy on theirs respective wins. I won a couple of heats which is fun in itself. Looking forward to the next one.

Okay, I think I have the flow down Bill. Fire it up.

How much weight do you need Monte?

Good place to hide illegal lead, under all that tape. LOL

I'm interested if I can get the time off (Building schools you know). Let us know when you iron out the details. I might have to rescue some group C cars from the parts bin.

What kind of racing?

Wow, looks like Howie's getting a great turnout. I've got all of the kits/chassis on my bench but I have too many other projects to finish here first.

Plus, Al's track is much faster than even last year. where -7s were almost unheard of a year ago, I ran a 6.22 last Thursday with my Thunderslot. And we now have several Slot Its and NSRs capable of sub 7 times. My Scaley Camaro is capable of 7.3s if I push it to it's limit.

I put a WBA 13K motor in my Bentley and added it to the grandkids cars where it was a big hit, it has headlights you know. It now races with a similarly motored Carrera DTM and a couple of Ninco DTMs with NC1s in them. They are all within 1/10th of each other and bring out the competitive beast in 7-10 year olds.

His 917 might me a match for yours. I out ran your Porsche for one heat so Woo Hoo it's not invincible, I just have to put 9 minutes a good driving all into the same race, that's the hard part.

As a side note, after several racers left for the evening, the remaining six of us ran an open class where we set a new lap record of 6.22 seconds. It was a Thunderslot of course, However a couple of NSRs and a Slot -It during the evening were clocked in the 6.5-6.6 range, unheard of just a year ago. Whoever thought that 73 laps would be just good enough for a 3rd place finish?
I'd like to think we were finally getting the hang of this hobby, but it's probably just more rubber on the track.

I can see Diane standing there thinking, " So it begins, again."

Yes, happy new year to everybody. May you go fast and stay in the slot.

This is in analog mode, or do you need a car with a chip in it?

My box is packed and sitting by the front door. I even have my Carrera DTM packed for some testing. It was the first car to break into the 6s on my track.
It's getting some traction now. I've pulled out and tuned some cars with rubber tires on them and have been running the dickens out of them. Since I woke up with a cold Christmas eve our plans got postponed so between the three lanes I ran over 2,000 laps yesterday, some on autopilot and some as fast and hard as I could without coming out. It's a long walk around that track.
