The first IROC set has arrived, a nice grouping of RevoSlot Toyota GT1's as pictured above.

Got a favorite color?

Road Rally days would be the conflict for us.  Those are typically on a Saturday here and there.

Next one is 3/23.

You only need TWO cars.  I'm sure we can find something beyond the Fickle Fiats of Fate.

That was a bit of philosophy from our favorite wise acre - Evel Jimmy!

Thanks guys.

Terry and Mitch are on board too, I'm guessing we can get a slot out of Stan too.

We're progressing!

I'm looking at reviving the NASTE IROC series.

Toward that end I just ordered my first set of IROC cars for use on any of the 132 scale IROC races.

They are RevoSlot Toyota GT1's.

I'll be ordering a 124 set of cars as well.

We might as well run a decent set of modern cars whenever possible.

Drop a reply here if you are interested in being a host regardless of scale.

The hosts get paid!

There will be an entry fee and the resultant fees will go to the track host.  No requirement to feed the horde.

Thanks!

I've updated the RevoSlot GT rules to include the Toyota GT1.

Also changed Revo Slot to RevoSlot.  (details matter) wink

Please.  Any idea how many cars are in the field?

Sounds like fun.

I'm a definite maybe!

I've made a change to the Calendar page per a request.

There are now a few Quick Links at the top to select events by Club/Group.

You're welcome.

Neither do I but I think they are available.

It appears that Great Traditions in Philadelphia is running a race series for groups or clubs with prizes for the Pioneer Legends cars.

Might be worth investigating if some of you have these cars.

I don't even think there's a might to it.

Doc's new Cobra beater?

My dad was a pharmacist and owned his own Drug Store.  He expanded and offered a "toy, model and game" section among others.  On the top shelf was this box with a track and two cars.  It caught my eye and to my joy ended up under the tree.  I opened it on Christmas morning and found not only track sections, but a box filled with rails that needed to be snapped into the track sections.  Power was supplied via a large dry cell battery.  Performance was non-existent.  A veritable box of junk.  But the next year...  Strombecker!  From there it was an easy hook - our town got a slot car track!

Some time after that, dad started taking me along on the buying trips to the distributor for toys, games and models.  They handled all the stuff that the local slot shop did.  The next few years were pretty cool until the hobby fizzled.

My dream was to be in the hobby business - not the slot TRACK business.  With http://www.DigitalRacingSolutions.com that dream has been realized.

Now, it might be nice to get back to some racing.  I'll hope to see you all in the future somewhere.

So, what's your story.  We'd love to hear it.

I seem to recall that van being more like an unguided missile.

These BRM cars are nice looking and quite sturdy.  It's a great chance to go try something new.  I'll be adding to my BRM post soon.

And... racing is racing, slot cars are slot cars.

It's a shame some of these 124 guys won't come give this a try.  Is anyone talking this up at the races, I know some of those guys aren't regular forum users so they might not even know about it.

Wish I could be there.

Go fast and take chances!

And Doc from across the river, how 'bout dem Orioles! Ain't the beer cold!

Yes, that's the word on the street.

Black Arrow has closed and gone out of business though their site still answers.

Electric Dreams still has some cars for anyone wanting one while you still can.

Frankly, I think they and a few others (MFG's) need some 'shine' as they make great cars and especially for some of us that don't have time to be scratch builders.

And that's what I plan to exhibit in my RTR series.

As always, stay tuned.

Happy belated Birthday, sorry to hear how it worked out.

I think we can race them wherever there is interest and cars in attendance.  I'm sure they will run just fine out here among others.

This could be a useful alternative to the 124 scratch build classes.  There are clearly some positives that I will expand upon.

First in our series featuring Ready-To-Run (RTR) 1:24 Scale slot cars is BRM.

RTR - Ready-To-Run
Applied but known to be a general misnomer as almost all slot cars require some setup for optimal performance and these will be no different.

In their own words:
It all began in the mid-nineties, when the BRM founder, Mr Pascal Baratella, a passionate model maker, decided to repaint and customize some “slotcar” models of that period that had been produced to be more functional and beautiful.

The satisfaction of seeing their creations compete against each other created the conditions for the birth of the “BRM” in 2003. Initially with the opportunity to enter the static worldwide modeling market producing tires and accessories and later, in 2006, with the production of the first 1/24 scale BRM slot car model.

MOTORS

The most common motor we would have interest in would be the S-033S 'Black Can' T-RS EVO Motor.  This is usually the stock motor for the newer cars.

Retail is about $20 but longevity is a strong feature.

Alan Smith reports that they have had ZERO motor failures in the past three years of running the 24-Hour Enduro in Tacoma where the BRM motor IS the handout motor.  The Tacoma race is a serious event of duration typically having 55+ minutes of every hour on the track.  You can do the math but that would work out to be a lot of heats in the three to four minute range.

And beyond amazing life span, the motors also remain consistent.  One car with one motor, for years.

The bottom line here, you may not have to buy half a dozen motors to find a good one.

Typical implementations would be inline or anglewinder.

TIRES

Tire wear is minimal for the conditions as the tires are quite long lasting.  Typical wear for Rubber tires is years, while Sponge tires can last for up to 6 months or more or at least 12 hours of a 24 hour race.

Both rubber and sponge tires are available and may both be required depending on the racing surface(s).  Tire and wheel combos are also available.

I'll post more soon...

Difficult to find?  Do we need a site redesign?

I'm happy to accept input on that.

I hope to do it again before I get too old.  Have a good time!

I have enough track to create an analog 4 lane with Ninco track.  The Carrera would likely lack the turn sections to match up for a smooth 4-lane.

Why do you ask?

Yes, the OmniSlotBox.  Jim, the developer, is one of our DRS customers.
