I'll be good for one or two as well.

Here's a photo of the winning bidder at the Creative Science School fundraiser.... He says he's ready and excited to go!
He's even got a team colors jacket already! I'll say he's ready.

Continued progress this past Thurs...
Bill's ride back in one piece:
Dave and his Mk III chassis in the back, the Mk I and II lined up (kinda) for a family portrait:
The Mk II went with Bill to the auction for his grand-daughter's school today and pulled in a three figure bid for a ride down the hill. Not bad for a bunch of slot racers trying to build something a human gets to ride in.

Don't worry Doc, all you have to do is come in first and the points will start going the other way. Nothing to it. From my end of the pack you all look the same, you look like tail lights.
Last I checked, you were third last night Mitch... Plenty of cars in your mirrors! You have that Fly flyin'!

Sounds a lot like how the Le Mans class evolved. There are going to be a few cars that are good performers, but if someone wants to develop a slower car which fits the intent (Carrera, for instance), I think it's the NASTE nature to be inclusive. I think the H&R 18k is a good alternate spec motor, although cars of lesser brands may take a little more mojo than just an H&R motor to be comparable to the Scaley fleet. They do make some pretty ones though, and they are generally pretty affordable too.

Presumably only Scaley cars or are other marques being allowed?

Hey Fernando, welcome to the online side of the circus!
Doc- Do you have an official draft of the rules yet? Are there any mods planned to be legal? There are a number of ways this can go- like Trans Am/Le Mans mods (wheels, gears, etc...) to BRM mods (none). I have a car or two which is legal already but I have a Slot.It rear axle on one and finding the original may be problematic at best. To be clear, don't let that steer what you want to do with this class, I am simply asking.
And I am lazy.
And I don't feel like finding the original axle.
But I will if I have to...

Current state of things- wheels turned last night (at least they did on the Mk 1):
Still have some additional painting to do, and I'm not enamored with the screw heads on the nose, but it's a start. The bodywork was worth 2 additional MPH on the hill in front of the house (17 vs 15). Once the speeds pick up (and the rest of the bodywork is actually attached), I expect this to make a larger difference. I also need to dial in the front end. It feels like the tire alignment is scrubbing off speed.

Weighs in at ~160#'s, 100 on the front axle, 60 on the rear (clearly, without me in it...).

Tony is now Mr. Scaley. We got a source.
Can we direct order through Tony? Does one of us need to become a "distributor"?

Or break the other one.
Break the other Doc? I didn't realize we had 2? Is that why he's always coming in second?

Yeah, those GT's totally need a red stripe and mustache.

I'd be more in favor of a stand alone GT3 class as well. As Mitch says, the current GT class hardware will crush a stock-ish Scaley car. The one Doc had was fun and well-balanced, and I'd imagine Scaley's can be found pretty inexpensively.
I'd be up for it. Will have to start looking for one...

More progress was made at the workshop this week, including getting Mr Smith's ride into more of a soapbox-looking shape. He is going for a somewhat non-conventional FOUR(!!!) wheels:
Bill debuted his new upholstery:
And also "customized" his former work jacket while getting the chassis painted:
Our goal is to get the frames painted up this week and ready for re-assembly next week. Looking forward to applying the bodywork and getting them truly ready for action!

I know there was a curiosity regarding the planned livery of my car. This should help you figure it out. I'm sure the peanut gallery can connect the dots (color by numbers?) and figure out the rest:

Also, on a mildly related note- a number of us have the BRM classics. It's time to start wreckin- I mean RACING them. I would encourage us to stay box stock again like we have with the Gp C cars, and just start running them. I will go forth and quantify some rules to propose, and see if we can ratify them- and then start racing!
I'm happy to do it but if anyone else wants to head this up, feel free to jump in.

What Monte meant to say was the TRANS Am cars- the Mustangs and Camaros. You all can see just how well they handle for yourselves.
I do shudder to think about subjecting them to 2 more hours of abuse.....
If all goes well, the Trans Am cars will actually be released by then as well, so we can pick up replacement pieces!

Painting of current body panels is in progress:
All together now...
Looking closely, I can see I probably should have done my finish sanding with something a little finer than 120 grit. Not going to win any car shows with it but it certainly looks functionally beautiful.

Thanks for an excellent evening of racing Bill. I had a great time and with some very close racing. Congrats to Rico on a well-earned win in the Le Mans category.
Regarding Can Am...
Here are the results:
Can Am Class
1 Chris Kouba 62.1
2 Terr Abbott 57.0
3 Dan Fritz 56.6
4 Rico Locati 55..4
5 Al Christensen 55.3
6 Bill Bostic 54.8 - 1st in USRRC
7 Mitch Brooks 53.0
8 Greg Petrolati 51.6
9 Fernando Carvalho 43.3
Terry's entry (the Scuderia Kouba GT40) is actually USRRC.
And he'd like to buy a vowel...

Also, proposal for class specs:
Gp C - NASTE spec (red motor, stock tires, traction mag)
Classics - Box stock (black motor, non-mag, rubber tires)
GT - Box stock (black motor, non-mag, rubber tires)
Should mean that anyone who has one can just true the tires, tune the chassis, and run it.

I have a GT car or two which I can offer. If we have the track for the day, it'd be a shame to not take advantage of it. If we need to IROC them, so be it.
I also have entries for the other two classes. Can't wait to go racing!!
