This was a very fun night of racing, thanks Bob for installing the 962 race on your schedule. I believe the Columbia Gorge Championship is going to get bigger as time goes on and racers find out how much fun it is.
Team Blue Groove makes a very durable and nice looking 962. Some of the very big crashes that I witnessed, ( including mine! ) would have destroyed a thinner body or at least make a person use up a lot of tape!! I am hoping Team Blue Groove makes more 1/24th. Can-Am bodies.

Really nice looking cars. I really like the 962's, they look fast just sitting there and with the True Scale tires and wheels.................frosting on the cake!

Mt. Goat; here is my email: howieandsandy@hotmail.com
We can talk in detail about the Can-Am and any questions you have regarding Rapid Raceway, classes, rules etc.
PS: we do not have a total cost on the parts for the Can-Am yet. Our parts guy, Bob, will put together a total parts cost for each car. Bill has bodies here for free, we have chassis also for free as long as they last.

Re: Question about Columbia Gorge Championship using the Porsche 962 (11 replies, posted in Gorge Raceway)
We are concentrating on the Can-Am at the chassis session. If you want to build one we will have all the parts etc. to do so. However if you want you can come over for the session and build your Sportsman car. You will need all the parts and brass etc. I am going to have a chassis session in the near future for the Early Modified and Sportsman also.
The problem right now for the 962 is we are having a hard time coming up with the correct chassis, they are getting hard to come by. We may have to go to another plan if we get enough additional racers who want to race and no chassis are available.

Re: Question about Columbia Gorge Championship using the Porsche 962 (11 replies, posted in Gorge Raceway)
This is a 3 race format. Each track: Bob's Springwater track, Bill's Inslot Checkered Flag, and mine, Rapid Raceway each have a race with the 962. Each race will be 4 times through at 4 min. heats.
This is a True Scale class and the rules for these cars are in the rules under Rapid Raceway under 962. Points will be established at each track and totaled together to make a Columbia George Champion.
I have a few of the Blue Groove 962 bodies that Bill has left here, they are $10.00 each. The bodies are the only legal bodies. They are sturdy at .030" Lexan.

I have come up with a way to show that a car is dragging while racing. I am currently going over the rules for Rapid Raceway and every one will know what they are when I send out a notice for the next race on Dec. 7, 2019. I will be teching the cars at every race and every class. Suspension systems are fine at Rapid as long as they do not drag the track and are in the rules for that class. There are two classes, NASCAR and Can-Am that is for the builders to do pretty much want they want for a chassis, I do not want to change that.
Here is the deal for me: I really enjoy close racing, I would rather loose a race by one lap or so than win one by 10 or more.
There are always going to be top drivers, if we want to be able to challenge them then we all need to be competing under the same rules.

I do not want any part of a chassis dragging on my track, even for 1,000th. of a second! I don't care if you have been building chassis for 100 yrs. It is not nice to scratch someone's track for any reason knowing you are doing it. I will have a full proof tech method of knowing when a car is dragging starting at the next race. Your chassis are beautiful, but if they are rubbing they are out!!

Very nice chassis Dennis!
What keeps the front from scraping the track as you go around corners? I don't see any thing that will stop it from doing so, the rubber band does not look like it will stop it!

Re: What's up? (97 replies, posted in Rapid Raceway)
Beau just gave the shop the prints he made and they turned them out.
For the Scholer chassis I would just take the center pan down and have them copy it. I would also recommend having them cut the rattle pan. The next step would be to make the guide tongue, side pans at home. The axle housings can be bought along with motor mounts. The chassis can be much simplified with a home built guide tongue and front axle assembly and make them movable for different wheel bases and to move up and down. To me that is not a big deal as I have done it already to a number of chassis. If you go to the Projects page, you will find what I did for a Can-Am chassis in the rear portion of the chassis.
All of this of course is VERY cheap or free labor on our part in order to make it cost effective as possible. I am willing to do that to gain racers.

Re: What's up? (97 replies, posted in Rapid Raceway)
Beings the Scholer chassis is basically unavailable, I had a discussion with Beau, Bill and Bob today to maybe have the brass center pan machined to duplicate the Scholer chassis, and adding on side pans and enough to have a complete roller chassis. The Scholer chassis is a very good chassis for most of our classes. If anybody wants to weigh in on this please do so.
