HRW has a great video on tuning these exact cars.

I did a bit last night on my TR-2. Finally it flows the way I thought it should. I may get the hang of this yet.

Now if I could just find my wind shield...

Racers,
Just a reminder and notice to those who were not racing Thursday evening, we will be running round three of the GT-3 2020 proxy on our track in Tigard this Sunday the 19th at around 1:00.

These cars are very fast and smooth, they are a blast to drive.  The slowest qualifier was faster than any car I owned.

Before running these cars I didn't have a car that could have qualified for this proxy. Afterwards I retuned a couple that now may have been able to qualify near the back of the pack.

I don't remember ever not having some kind of set around. I do remember that there was a track in a strip mall behind our house when I was about 5 (1963). Dad had some kind of open wheel car and he and his co-workers would race at various tracks in southern California.  The first set I remember by name was a Motorrific set that let you race your Matchbox cars by dragging them around the track with a spring, very noisy.  1967 brought in an Eldon Demolition Derby set. I loved this set but by design the cars got destroyed.
Christmas of '69 brought in a Strombecker modified figure 8 with the Porsche RSK and the green Lotus both with working headlights. Oh the hours I spent on my knees running those cars.
About 1971 Mom came home from a garage sale with my first HO set. It was huge. it wound uphill around a mountain then ran downhill into a loop, but I usually set it up as a dragstrip running diagonally across entire length of the basement. The braking area was two pillows.
Dad used to take me to Hillsboro Hobbies to race on their big track. by the time I was old enough to drive myself there was only one track left, it was on SE Stark. I went a couple of times. About the third time I went it was gone.
Other than a small HO set for my daughter in Central Oregon and a large HO set for the boys here I didn't do much until they built the drag track in Vancouver.
I met Terry through a craigslist transaction and visited Monty's and Howie's tracks once each.
Somewhere I met Bill Bostic in some kind of online chat thing and the pusher man made some kind of junky out of me.

Guys,
Due to a cancellation We've been asked to host round three of the GT3 proxy here at Allenbrook.
The cars are currently in Tacoma after completing round two.
I'll post when they get here so we can run these cars probably within the next couple of weeks, then get them sent on to round four.

Thanks
Mitch

eBay is loaded with them Doc.

I've heard of this but never tried it.

I can however tell you a couple of horror stories about resin bodies and a food dehydrator.

Why a couple of stories you may ask? Because sometimes I'm a slow learner.

Remember Mark a magnet can be your friend... until you win.

A great non controversial platform is the Pink Kar Ferrari GTO, it can be made to run very well with a 14K motor

I would have to agree with Doc since we have already started the season. I think we should make a clear cut decision regarding years, pods, motors ect. before we start building cars for the next season.

The whole point of changing the year of entry was solely to eliminate the GT40 from classic l. We decided as a group that there were three or four other classes where the GT40 could be raced.

A slot it GT40 even with the pod glued tight would still be the dominate car due to it's light weight and low and wide configuration.

The idea was to see what could be done with some of the other classics.

You (Bill) envisioned this class from the 50s when you first created it. We chose to extend the year 1964 to include the XKEs, GTOs, and the early 60s corvettes (c2) I think.

A new racer would have a better chance racing a Ninco, Fly, or Scalextric with a magnet against other cars of the same make than trying to tune a Slot It GT40 to match some of the ones we've seen lately.

As a side note for next year we have talked a bit about changing class l to the hawk 18K motor and raising class ll to either a 20K or the cheaper $8 Parana motor. Something to discuss later.

Bah Humbug. Somebody had to say it. with that out of my system... Merry Christmas to all, and the best the new year has to offer. Except for whoever spilt coffee or something over my spacebar making it clunky.  Wait that may have been me, and it might have been coffee or it might have been bourbon.

I'll figure it out later.

2020 here we come.

Also look under the rules section of the NASTE site. It might be listed under Rapid Raceway rules

Yes

You're not called NASTE without reason.

If you just look at the lap counts it looks like we ran three different classes of cars in that race.
I'm firmly in the Eldon division.

Glad you had a good turnout. I had planned to be there, but Chris had already made other plans.

Rico, Rico, you have to keep those women happy. I'm actually going to Depot Bay because my wife made plans for us to go.
But hey, it's the beach.
I hope you enjoy whatever you have to do.
Make that whatever you GET to do.

Hi Kelly.

Depoe Bay this weekend for me.

Did you ask the Doc if your pacemaker is compatible with your new DiFalco controller?

26Ds?  With new tires my Asp can run lap after lap in the 6.3/6.4 range and feels like it is glued to the track. Out of fairness I may have to just leave it at home.
On the other hand I found another very clean "Classic" industries chassis with a Lotus 30 body that has never been painted, as in still clear. I hope it runs as well as my Porsche.

Neither can NASCAR. I love watching them run on a road course, and yes most of the wrecks seem to happen on the right hand turns.

The over 50 class is 1/24 scale, as it needs to have the 36D motor for that class.

The red one appears to be an Eldon with different wheels/tires on the back. It is a Ferrari P3/P4, their 906 shell is very similar, the glass just differs a bit.

The other one is a Porsche 917 lexan body on what looks like an early Parma chassis.

Not that we don't have enough classes already, but digging thru the drawers it occurred to me that between Revell/Monogram and Carrera there are a lot of interesting stock/Nascar type cars from say '57 - '72. with the new releases from Scalextric, ( Monte Carlo-Thunderbird) this could be extended into the late 70s/early 80s. They include the big three, Ford, Chevy and Mopar, all are tunable to an extent and there are 3D chassis available for most of them, not that they make much difference.
There may be a way here to exhibit some custom work/tuning in a fun way.
There is a wide range to choose from.

I know as a club we don't race NASCAR, I think they did modern cars for a bit before I was around.

Just thinking out loud.
