Monte, I believe the Eagle and Lotus use the same tire. Dimension-wise anyway.

Doc. I got you down for a pair of Trans Am tires. What Can Am car are you racing? We are limited as to what we have that fit Can Am cars.
Monte, Somehow the Scalextric Eagle & Lotus cars did not make the list. I just found a pair of stock tires to mold from. I think I better order more mold material!

Sorry guys, the new tires will not be ready for tomorrow night's race. I also thought I had another week, I didn't realize this was one of those back-to-back odd Thursday months. But we did get the new molds poured today, so we will have Fly tires by the next Odd Thursday Race!
Doc, we do still have Trans Am and some Can Am tires on hand.

Sounds good Chris.
Just a side note, we will be racing the same two classes we raced at Al's on the last Odd Thursday. I'm considering running the same classes at back to back races. One race on Al's track then one on mine with the same cars. For something different we could have individual race winners as well as combined race winners.
Any thoughts?

Sorry I haven't been able to make it over to your Monday race yet Doc. Howie at Rapid Raceway has had a few Monday night races scheduled lately and I am well vested into his season. I think his last Monday race for the season is tomorrow, so after that one I plan to make it to your place!

Hey Doc, Monte and I should have urethane tires for that particular car within 2 weeks, or by the next Odd Thursday from tomorrow.

Hey Doc, I'm out at the Portland Swap Meet this week, but I plan on swinging by for the race after I leave the track. There should be plenty of racers and cars there, probably even one or two you could borrow to race. ==========Bill

I'm OK with wherever you guys want this class to go. From the looks of the dialog, it looks to me like you're the class sponsor on this one Chris!
On the subject of the Scalextric Sport Motors. I have a couple new in the box and the RPM rating on them is higher than what their rating of the "stock" motors. I also had one of these motors in a Trans Am Camaro and it was indeed faster. I suspect the Sport motors have a hotter armature in them. Same can just different arm. We could verify this with a simple check with an Ohm meter.
On the subject of tires, yes Monte and I are making urethane tires. We should have some available for the Fly cars within a couple weeks. We are currently selling tires for $2.00 a pair.
On the subject of "Goose Hunting", I hear it is open season!!!

I am in agreement with Stan. Fly cars can be pretty disappointing without a rear axle and gear changes. From my experience racing these at Monte's a few years back, they don't make very good "box stock" racers. I think allowing rear axle and gear changes will put all the different makes on more equal ground.

Re: Late Model Trans-Am (6 replies, posted in Rapid Raceway)
Dan, if you get a chance you should check out a race at Howie's Rapid Raceway. They race some very interesting 1/24 scale cars, not the average clear body type flexi-cars. The cars they race are more like 1/32 cars, nice models only in 1/24.

I have one of the new Difalco Neo controllers. I like it a lot. It seems a little smoother and more comfortable than my Professor Motor. The Difalco has built in circuit protection to guard against incorrect wire hook ups or reverse polarity. The polarity on the controller can be easily changed to suit reverse polarity tracks. Difalco has been around for many years building controllers, including controllers for the 1/24 pro racers. Difalco's service and support are excellent! If you have questions or problems you can email them or call them on the phone and they will respond. Upgrades and repairs can be easily made by the owner without a need to send the controller back to the shop. I also have a Difalco for 1/24 racing that they built for me with options I requested. Yes, they will custom build a controller to suit your needs.
I also have three Professor Motor controllers. Two older original versions and one of the dual potentiometer styles. All have been used extensively over the years. One of the older ones served as my 1/24 race controller for many years, and I now use it for my Over 55 Class 1/24 controller as well as for 1/32. The Professor Motor controllers are very dependable! Professor Motor also has excellent service and support, and parts are readily available for their controllers.
DS controllers are relatively new on the market. I have used other racer's DS controllers from time to time and they are also very nice. They are very smooth and control is very linear. However I question their durability as mentioned by Mitch above. In addition their service and support is not good, and I know of no available repair or replacement parts.
When it comes right down to it they all work very well. From my experience I would rate the Difalco's the highest mostly because of the level of the service provided by the company, and the ability to make repairs or upgrades myself. Second on my list is the Professor Motor, for many of the same reasons I like Difalcos, plus they are dependable and tough! Bringing up the rear for me is the DS. They feel good in my hand and they are very smooth, but as of right now they just don't seem reliable and the service and support from the factory is not there. Maybe I'll change my mind some day.........

Odd Thursday Night Racing on March 17th at TooBad Motorplex.
We had a great turn out with 17 racers at one point! It was nice to see some racers we hadn't seen for awhile, and a new racer amidst the crowd. Between John Fisher and Chris Kouba four records fell. Chris set new records for lap time and total laps for the Classic Sports Car Class in Division II, and John Fisher posted a sub-eight second lap in the GT Class for a new record. John and Chris also tied for the win in GT setting a new lap record for that class! In the Over 50 Class Al Christensen proved he and his Cheetah can remain at the top, besting the field by over a full lap!
