I will probably bring the Jeep. Let me know if you are going to bring the brake drum so I can leave my rear seat at home to make room for the drum!

Sure thing Dan, that would be great! If you want you can just bring it to the next race at my place. Either way is fine, whichever works best for you.
Thanks! ======Bill

Update from our Crew Chief/Designer/Builder/Driver:
GRAVITY RACING UPDATE
Gravity Racers hit the road on Tuesday with a short trial run. The car is fast and responsive. Horn, warning lights, back-up camera system, steering and brakes all function as planned. Front quarter panels, hood and final paint job and livery are all that remain. Planning a run down Scappoose/Vernonia HWY ( 45 mph +) SOON..
5 shares @ $ 10 each remain. Be part of History and share in the glory at the upcoming race on August 20th.
Will advise on S/V trial run date. Probably on a Sunday morning (fewer cops and less traffic). All are invited to witness and celebrate at the local pub following.
Valeria Victrix !

Re: NASTE Gravity Racer Program (306 replies, posted in NASTE)
Today was the third work session on the NASTE Gravity Racer, or the Hawksbill Flyer as we like to call it. Al and Jimmy worked on the body work while Dennis and I adjusted the steering system and worked on the electrical systems. After an excellent lunch provided by Charlotte (yes Dennis, I am giving Charlotte FULL credit for that!) we worked straight through until the three o'clock hour. At three o'clock we loaded the car into dennis' mini-van and set out for a shake down run!
A section of road was chosen with a slight incline followed by a pretty good hill into a gully and then back uphill on the other side. It was definitely a good test section for the car. I gave dennis a push off then jumped in the Jeep to give chase. Even on the slight incline Dennis was able to get the car up to approximately 10 MPH and pretty much maintain that speed until the road levelled out too much. After another push, this time by the Jeep (I'm old and was much too tired after the initial push!) Dennis approached the hill. On this incline which was only moderately sloped and of short duration, Dennis was able to reach 20+ MPH ! Although that doesn't sound all that impressive, given the short length of the hill and somewhat gentle slope the car hit that speed very quickly!
The test run prved a couple things; per Dennis the steering and brake systems worked to his liking (it is always most important for the driver to be happy with the car!), and this thing is going to be FAST! By the next work session I believe the car will be pretty close to finished. I must commend Dennis on the amount of work he gets done on the car working on his own! I also expect the next work session will involve more advanced test runs! I can hardly wait!

June 9th 2016 Odd Thursday -
We han an enthusiastic crowd of 19 racers last night, and we raced our butts off! We started the night with the Classic Sports Car Class in which John Fisher finished first. Monte Saager was second overall, and first in division I racing a Ninco AC Cobra! The racing was so close the top eleven were within four laps of each other! After the classic sports cars we raced the F1 Class. This class is also very competitive , especially considering the class is broken into multiple divisions. Six of the divisions were represented last night. Glenn Heath scored the win with a Modern Division Scalextric A1GP. This win puts Glenn on the Winner's List! Congrats Glenn!
With so many racers the first two races were not over until 10:00pm. But that did not stop 10 racers from sticking around to race the BRM Porsche 962s. The action in this class is fierce! Racing these 1/24 BRM Porsches on the tight TooBad course is exciting to say the least! Can you say "bump pass"? If you can't, you better learn! Rico Locati barely squeaked out the win over Goose by just 1/10th of a lap. Last but not least, those of us that could still stand put our Over 50 Class cars on the track. Gary Gossett showed us how it's done by beating us with his Cox Dino Ferrari.
A big thanks to all that were able to make it out to race! I know the traffic was terrible last night, and I really appreciate the effort you all put out just to get here!

Topic: .030" Clear Bodies by Team Blue Groove (0 replies, posted in Cars)
Team Blue Groove has added more vintage 1/24 bodies to their inventory. The new car bodies include the Ford J car, Scarab, '55 Chevy drag car, Lola T70 coupe, Chaparral 2F with a separate wing piece, vintage Cooper F1, and a vintage Ferrari F1. One thing I really like about the Team Blue Groove bodies is that they are thicker at .030", which makes them more rigid. They are kind of halfway between a model car body and a traditional clear slot car body, which in my opinion makes them better suited for detailing. It also makes them very durable. You can see all their bodies here: http://stores.ebay.com/TEAM-BLUEGROOVE/ … d=97772842

Dorothy your opinions DO matter or I wouldn't even be taking the time to try to respond to your concerns.
And please try to remember, even though you do not care for the more serious aspect of slot car racing, if were not for those people that do take this hobby a little more serious there would not be any NASTE! Those that take it a little more serious, have the c/o disorders, and devote more time and energy to our hobby are the ones that are building and preparing those IROC cars, building the tracks, and trying to put together a racing program that is fun for all!
This endith my sermon! See you all on Sunday! ===========Bill

Re: NASTE 2017 - New Era (42 replies, posted in NASTE)
Things have finally calmed down around here and settled close to normalcy. So I've had some time to again read through this string of messages. I want everyone to know I really do value your input and try to see or understand all the different points of view. My goal is nothing more than to make the racing with NASTE the best it can be!
The Odd Thursday Night Races are going very well. I plan to continue partnering with Al holding the races as they are currently formatted through the summer months.
As for the weekend NASTE events, Monte will be taking over the administration duties of those races. I will be concentrating on the Odd Thursday Night Races. I'd like to thank Monte for volunteering to help split up the duties involved with the operations of NASTE.
Dorothy, I intended to try and address each of the issues you had brought up in your "novel", but after reading through it again I'm not really sure what point or points you are trying to make? From what I can understand it seems you take issue with those that in your opinion take the racing too seriously? And your main concerns seem to be centered around the weekend races as you do not participate in the Odd Thursday Races? So I guess I'm thinking maybe you did not read all of my posts or you or misinterpreted my meaning? Everything after my statement that I would be removing the Point Series Championship from the traditional NASTE weekend races, were statements and proposals of how I intended to facilitate the Point Series Races at the Odd Thursday Races. They had nothing to with, nor any bearing on how the NASTE weekend races would be formatted or run. None of my side of the discussion has had anything to do with changes to the weekend races other than removing the point series. Which again you wanted me to do in the first place as I remember? So if you don't participate in the Odd Thursday Races anyway, and the point series is gone from the weekend races, I'm really confused as to why you seem dissatisfied enough to stop coming to the "new" NASTE races? I apologize if my comments were not clear enough!

Re: NASTE 2017 - New Era (42 replies, posted in NASTE)
Thanks for your input Dorothy.
Just for clarification; 1. I do not consider NASTE MY club. I DO consider the Point Series Championship MINE as I promote, sponsor, schedule the races, administer, and fund a large portion of it. 2. YES, Odd Thursday Night Races are considered NASTE Events.....
Please remember I am NOT talking about changing the weekend NASTE events. I am only planning to remove the NASTE Point Series Championship from those events. Half of the people in attendance are not participating in the series anyway. I know you for one were a proponent for doing away with the points series. I am just proposing to move it to another venue.
And thank you for the kind words!
