Speaking of racing, we had a good turnout yesterday of which I am currently getting ready to report on them on the Rapid Raceway site under Can-Am and Early Modified. We had a good time and no politics that I know of.
Thanks for coming Rico and to all who came to race, it was a good time. Rusty? Yea I had to oil my trigger finger it was squeaking so bad!!
Race report will be coming tomorrow.
Well I won't dig into it any further Stumbly. I am 75 and I suppose at risk also.
With that being said, I rest my case.
I have a race tomorrow, if you want to partake I have an extra controller and an extra car for each class, just let me know so I can get the cars ready to go, that is no big deal, just install rear tires. Doors open at noon.
Are you a Dr. Stumbly? This shutdown is for a reason, otherwise who would shut down a country that had great economy? Yes it inconvenienced most, but I feel we saved a lot of lives. To the protesters? Putting it mildly: a bunch of self centered butt heads. I am like every one else though, can't wait to get back to normal!
Let's race! Saturday is coming!! Bring your weapons!!! Take your frustrations out on the track!
Fellow racers; After the May 2nd. race there is a season final race on the 9th of May with the Indy cars. I am going to reschedule that Indy race ( Rapid Grand Prix ) to May 23rd. That will be the last scheduled race for the Rapid Raceway regular season. I am still going to schedule a 962 race in the off season so that we can complete the 3 race format for the Columbia Gorge Championship.
Also I am in the early stages of getting support for a headlight race for next season. We used to do this once a yr. and it kind of lost its way I guess. I would use the 962 as the basis for the race and all you would need is another Bluegroove 962 body and add headlights/taillights. It is a fairly easy addition. I got my lights from Radio Shack and they use the small round disk nickel size battery. Others used track power lights.
I think we could call it the "Northwest Le Mans". I wonder if the Lola body has the same wheel base as the 962? We also could use the Chapareal 2F body, it has a wing. The light rules are still in the 962 rules so that shouldn't be an issue. I would like to start planning the 2021 season, needn't be right away but we could chip away at it between the 3 tracks.
I used to have a night race with the 962's once a yr. The popularity of it fell off. I would love to put it back on the schedule if I could get a few racers to partake. I have all the track lights still available. All it takes is a little wiring and lights, I bought mine at Radio Shack, they take a little flat round battery or some racers installed lights that light up with track power. It would probably take a new Bluegroove 962 or how 'bout a Lola MK111 D70 Bluegroove body? Add lights, not very expensive and if I get at least 8 guys who are willing I would gladly add it back into the schedule once a yr. So how 'bout it? I really liked it and had fun racing under the lights.
I have one car, a sports car and an OSCAR NASCAR chassis that needs running gear. Perhaps Bill will ad the photos. I will loan them to any one who wants to make the races at Tom's.
Not much to say Bill, except you are surely keeping the #1 spot as the "Slot Car Slut!
Yea Mitch, that is my intent. I know I improved it after the Springwater race, so leave it to collect dust 'till it is called into action again!
The second race of the Columbia George Championship using the 962 Porsche was supposed to be raced today. However as expected with this virus scare we only had 6 racers show up: Ted, Gearloose, Scott, John, Bob and myself and Jeff Fields stopped by to check out the "action". We did have some fun dialing the cars in and getting some track time.
I will reschedule this 962 race when this virus thing is over.
Man Rico, that car is nice!!
I made a comment on the Facebook True Scale site a few minutes ago. If we get 8 racers tomorrow we can have a good time. Less racers and we can call it a practice day or decide what to do at the time and still have a good time!!
Hope to see ya tomorrow Rico. Doors open at 11:00am.
I heard that the state wants to cancel everything that will attract over 200 + people! So far we are WAY under that figure! But each to their own, if you don't want to come to a race that is your decision and shouldn't have anything to do with the other racers who choose to participate.
Rico, I have a new one that you can have, just buy another for me when you can.
A lot of fun today Bob, thanks.
Nice looking Zack. Don't worry about the paint, as you know slot cars get hammered and your fine paint will get scratched up a bit! A veteran slot car ( especially 1/24th. ) is going to have "scars" to show it has been in a battle or two or more! I am bringing a real old veteran (Richard Petty's Pontiac Grand Prix ) to Bob's race on March 7th. I may have bought it when new in about '84!
Looking good Zack. Call me and we can make arrangements to meet at my track for testing if you want.
Bill and I looked it up and here is the answer: it is a Scorpion 2 chassis by JK.
I think it is a Parma. Bill knows and has told me before, but gee..................I forgot!! I will email him and ask him again!
Doing a new Can-Am. My new Shadow body fits perfectly. Picture will be here as soon as my friend Bill posts it.
Looks good from here Zack, I zoomed in on it and I can see it is stronger than what we have. Looking forward to putting one together and dialing it in!
Thanks for taking the time to do this.
I gave you the lap you missed Rico. It is always a + if a racer can go a whole race with out any troubles, you did well.
Thanks for the responses, now it is a decision of when do I want to spend the big bucks! I got a lot of feedback at the race last night and I think I will go with a DD281.
