The name of Late Model Trans-Am is going to be changed to: TA2. The reason is because there is a series called TA2 that is racing the late model Camaro, Mustang and soon to be Challenger in 1-1 scale. This series is a spin off/continuation of the Trans-Am that started in 1966. This is exactly what we are doing. If you go to links and click on Late Model Trans-Am, it will take you to their web site. Then click on Trans-Am 101 and you will read what TA2 is, also TA and TA3. Our rules will not change.

The race of March 30th. 2013. The last race of the night had 4 entries so we made it short and sweet. Thanks to those who stayed and corner marshaled for this race. These cars are nice looking and fun to race!

The race of Jan. 26th. 2013. The first race of the TA2 class. These cars are nice looking and handle ok. The rules have been modified ( check out the rules section ) to go wider on the tracking both front and rear with the addition of fender flairs to help the handling and to copy the look of the current 1-1 scale TA2.
Congratulations to Bob Nak. for winning the first TA2 race with his fine Mustang!!

Kirk is in better shape than he thought he was, he made it into the "Hole". Thanks Kirk.

The "outlaw" green car is of the OSCAR kind, Stuart wanted to race but didn't have a legal car. He was DQ'd.

The first annual Rapid 500 is on the books. Nine racers showed up to do battle, I appreciate every one of them. The race was not with out it's glitches. First the blue lane needed a repair, while plugging in the soldering gun, a short in the plugin box caused the computer to lose the race. So we elected to start over and shorten the race. Then the blue lane needed to be re-repaired! With that done we proceeded to have a fine race.
We ran the classes together and scored separate, it worked out very good.
Thanks to my wife for the soup and potato salad.
This will be the kick off race to our future seasons.

March 29th. 2014.last race of the season and what a race it was. Rain outside brought the racers inside! Bad Bob with his fast NASCAR won the race and set the bar higher by setting a new track record. Thanks to Kirk for bringing the fine soup and Marty for bringing his goodies to add to the other goodies. I put the final points on the News page.

Race of March 1st. 2014. Seven racers showed up to do battle. The track was repaired in the "esses" and cleaned for this race causing some slippery conditions. I squeezed out a win over Gearloose. We have one race to go on March 29th, then start planning for the 2015 season. It was also discussed to set a new rule starting next season: to have the tracking set at a certain width for all NASCAR's, therefore eliminating the problem with narrow bodies. I think it is a good idea and I will install the new tracking rules asap. Also it was discussed to add flairs to the cars to avoid the look of tires sticking out beyond the body too much after cutting out the wheel wells for the tires to clear. I like that rule also. Marty has a flared NASCAR and it looks great. No it is not absolutely true scale, but so be it!

Race of Feb. 22, 2014. A lot of action both on and off the track. A few racers showed up that we haven't seen at Rapid for awhile: Stuart, Gary, James. Gary brought a new racer to the field, Dima Donchorov who shared a car with Gary.
This was the first race that hiked the entry fee to $4.00 and I supplied the food. Sorry guys, I will do better next time, although we ate pretty much the whole thing. Gearloose drove a great race and took the win. The track had a lot of rubber on it and so the times weren't that great. It will be clean for the race next weekend. Current points are on the News page.

Race of Feb. 16th. 2013. The competition is getting very close between True Scale NASCAR's and the OSCAR NASCAR's. NASCAR rules were discussed and tossed back and fourth and voted on and starting next season, only True Scale NASCAR"s will compete at Rapid Raceway. So next season will be True Scale format in all classes.
I'll also mention that Gearloose's True Scale NASCAR is a home built in-line chassis and is fast and handles great!!

The first NASCAR race of the 2013 season. Dec. 15th. 2012. I lost the results by my own mistake. So we went by memory as to the results. I decided that for the remainder of the 2013 season, (Marty, Beau and I also discussed this issue after the race) that the OSCAR NASCAR's can compete with the True Scale NASCAR until such time it is decided to race only True Scale NASCAR. Bad Bob and I badgered each other's NASCAR which was good for some laughs. Beau took the time to set a new NASCAR track record with Kirk's new car at 4.7351 seconds.

Beau discovered several other 4.5" Indy car bodies that will be added to the body list. He also ordered 5 of the Outasite #0520 body to be put in the inventory of bodies for sale.

I finished this F1 last March or so ( see the Projects page ). We have a couple F1 races toward the end of the season ( 2017 ). Beau and I already tested our F1's and they handle great, should be a fun class with the open wheels as an added challenge! I am in the process of building another one for Blake and then another one for Dwayne. We can have a race with 5 people, so we need one more!

I am still on the Indy car thing. I have updated the chassis rules, the chassis is to be an open chassis. The Scholers are evidently going away as Professor Motor has been out of our favorite one for at least 8 months and they can't get a hold of anyone at Scholer. So, buy or build and let's get this thing going, maybe for the 2016 season!

Update: No Indy cars have been built beyond Beau's. The class is not on the schedule yet for the 2015 season. Maybe if it was put on the schedule there would be a few put together. So stay tuned.

Beau brought his new Indy car to the Jan. 26th. 2013 race. After the race was over he tested it. It turned in the very low 4.3's! This is going to be a very fast class for next season. I am considering a summer race with these cars. There is a picture of Beau's Indy car on the Projects page. It has yet to be painted. His car is powered by a Hawk 7 on a Scholer Pantara chassis.
