Topic: Marklin slot cars

Does anyone know anything about Marklin slot cars?  I just picked one up from Ebay, looks to be 1/32 scale.  It is a 1970 McNamara Ford Indy car driven by Mario Andretti.  It has front wheels that steer with the guide and a very funky pick shoe arrangement.  I will try to post some pics later

Re: Marklin slot cars

I'm not familiar with them. I've seen them, but I was thinking they were older than 1970's. I was also thinking they were about 1/30th scale?

Re: Marklin slot cars

Maerklin? Are you sure it's Maerklin, not Fleischmann?

Any pictures? Or links?

Here is the Ebay link: http://cgi.ebay.com/Marklin-McNamara-In … 240%3A1318
I will try to post some pic's later tonight.
It might be 1/30 as it seems a little on the small side.  George, it has Marklin stamped/formed on the bottom, but it was made in Germany, so spelling may be different.

Re: Marklin slot cars

That's sure not what I was thinking of! Looks to be some sort of off-beat battery set car to me?????

Re: Marklin slot cars

Well, that's a lack in my knowledge (obviously). I was aware of other German and French slot car brands, but never knew (or had already forgotten) that Marklin was in the game too. Rico, Maerklin is just another way of writing M

Re: Marklin slot cars

Weird guide flag & pickup assembly, but the motor and rear axle carrier look good!

Re: Marklin slot cars

It's alive!!!!!  I figured out the pick-up set up, just a matter of proper assembly and some soldering on the leads.  Sounds kind of strong!!!! LOL

Speaking of vintage slot cars...

Look at this! http://cgi.ebay.com/Fleischmann-EMPTY-o … 1|294%3A50

I'm surprised this has seven bids on it.

Re: Marklin slot cars

Wow, that is nuts but it is a shaped case.

Rico, did someone cut a chunk out of the front?

Re: Marklin slot cars

I'm not really sure.  Here is a pic of the 1:1 car and it looks to have an opening there also???
