Topic: Sloter Lola T70

Have you all seen the new Sloter Lola T70s? I just got one. Man they are BEAUTIFUL! They have as much detail as some of the more expensive diecast cars I've seen! The only problem is I don't want to put it on the track! Somewhere along the line I've turned into a "collector" again! I hate that!..................But I just can't help myself!!!  -------------------Bill

Re: Sloter Lola T70

Bill- which one did you get?  Gurney or McCluskey?  They look really beautiful, but I've read they have wimpy motors.  It seems most everyone is turning them into shelf queens, so you are not alone.  I finally ran my Scalextric Eagle, I just had to see how it ran.  It came away unscathed and I intend to replace the braids so it will still look brand new.

Re: Sloter Lola T70

Hey Rico, I got the blue Gurney model. It looks to me like the two have a few differences. The McCluskey model has side draft induction of some sort and two scoops on the top of the rear portion of the body (engine cover). I'm pretty sure mine will remain a "shelf queen" also. I can see where one minor "get-off" could result in a lot of damage!  ------------------Bill

Re: Sloter Lola T70

Have you noticed that your Gurney Weslake-Ford has the distributor in the rear like a Chevy?  I saw some posts where people were going to try and make corrections.  I'm sure most people these days would never notice.

Re: Sloter Lola T70

Did you know that Revell-Monogram is also coming out with versions of this car (Lola T-70) in the near future?  Should be more affordable and raceable, I hope.

Re: Sloter Lola T70

No, I didn't notice. I haven't actually taken it out of the tin to take a good look at it. I was trying to figure out the differences between the Gurney and the McCluskey to see if I HAD to have both.....  --------------Bill

Re: Sloter Lola T70

Get two of each then you won't feel so bad putting one of each on the track.  smile

Re: Sloter Lola T70

I don't think I'd have the heart to crash one even if I had 6 of each! Besides, they really don't look like they were built to be run. It appears making them "race ready" was not a priority....   ---------------Bill

Re: Sloter Lola T70

That seems to be the general concensus.  They are more like motorized displays.  I wish I had the scratch to purchase one.

Re: Sloter Lola T70

Strap tires all over one of 'em.  I'd just have to know.
