Topic: New Track in Beaverton!

A new track has opened up to the Northwest hardbody racing scene! Freedom Raceway, owned by Steven Ennis, was set up and energized on Saturday April 4th, 2026. The track was built by the famous track builder Bob Scott. Bob trailered the track up from Arizona (where the track was constructed) and setit up leaving Steven with a ready to run raceway!

After the track was set up a light coat of traction compound was applied to the track surface. The first fact realized was; this is a FAST layout! Although somewhat small, this track has great flow and a feel that inspires confidence! There is a lot of speed to be found on this course! Our lap times dropped significantly after just a few laps of practice. The driver sight lines are excellent, with great visiblility around the entire course. Turn marshalling details will be figured out at the first race, but there is access all the way around the track. Access is good at all the turns.

We ran test laps with hardbody Trans Am cars, Womps, and Flexis with Go Kart bodies. Everything we threw on the track ran and handled great! This is going to be a fun track to race on, and a great addition to the Northwest slot racing scene!

From all of the racers in the Northwest: thank you Steven and Bob Scott!

Bob Scott arrived early and ready to go!

The track racing surface was in eight pieces.

Bob explained all the details of set up and operation as he went along assembling the track.

Bob is truly a professional! From the construction of the track, to the delivery, to the assembly on site, Bob is highly efficient!

It was hard to believe how quickly the track went together! Approximately 3 hours from dropping the trailer's ramp to hooking up controllers!....Like I said; Bob is a PRO!

Looks like a good flow to me. It will be a good addition to the area. It is thumbs up for me!

Re: New Track in Beaverton!

Thank you Bill for the write up and also coming to assist with assemble and teaching me the glue technique. This has been a fun addition thus far and looking forward to holding multiple races and having a good time. I will be looking into having a parts selection available as well to help racers have what they need to build cars.

One quick story I have which shows why I love this hobby:

Yesterday for Easter was a beautiful day so I had the garage door open and had the kids running cars on the track when a Neighbor walked by and heard the sound of winding motors and decided to take a look and realized it was a slot car track. After a little conversation he asked if he could show his son and grand children and I said absolutely. About 10 minutes went by and he comes back with the other 3 and holding an older Parma tool box with a flexi 2 lexan car sporting the ever so fast Pink endbell 16d motor. It took me a few minutes to put new braids and new tires on it and it ran like brand new so I let the son and grand kids run it around a few laps then decided to put a controller in each of their hands and put my "go-Karts" on the track so all 4 of them could race together. The smiles on their face and the laughs that were had made it worth every penny. I took a few pictures for them to have as an Easter memory and who knows we may have some new racers before we know.

Re: New Track in Beaverton!

AWESOME story Steven! A great start for your track on its first day!

Re: New Track in Beaverton!

That's pretty cool Steve. I wonder how many slot cars are stored away and forgotten 'till something sparks their memory........................................"Oh yea, slot cars.................I have a few stashed away from my younger days"!!

Re: New Track in Beaverton!

Hello Steven,

The track looks cool and challenging. Very nice work on the track build, setup and it looks great.
When is the next race and what are you going to be racing?

Jim

Re: New Track in Beaverton!

Jim,

Thank you Bob Scott did an excellent job on this. I am letting this season finish and hopefully will be able to be a part of track owners meetings to find a time that will be suitable for everyone to have some races. I am currently unsure what classes will be ran but I will make sure its classes that are already in circulation so no new cars are needing to be built. I hope to hold a few open houses this spring/summer to let people come over and have a bbq or something.
