Results from the November 11th Odd Thursday Night Races:
Seven souls braved the rain socked bye ways and highways of Portland and made it out to Rippen riding speedway.. doc was on cruise control and took the win pge. Up next was gfx and it was Al turn to be on cruise control and drove three perfect heats with out some much as a sneeze to take the easy win. All I can say is hosed and leave it at that. Up next was open and doc had his revenge and took the win. But at a expense of some body damage to the Lola. Estimate repair forth coming. The insurance company will not be happy. Well now we have our Thanksgiving break. No racing to 12/09/21 every body stay safe.
How is all that needs to be said about last night's racing. Mr Prozac made a showing after along break from racing the 1/32 cars and him and ricci had a hell of a battle in the lmp class with Zack taking the win. Up next was the points race and more close racing was to be had here. Al looked like he had the class covered till a late race cash with a back marker snatched the victory from his grasp. Doc took the win followed by Zack then Al . Up next was open and these had to be the race of the year so far
I'm just going to let the result tell the stories when they are posted. Thanks again Al for hoisting and all the racers that made it out. See you all in two weeks.
Here are the race results from the Odd Thursday Race at Rippin' Ridin' Raceway on December 9th:
Look how close the finish was in the Open Class race!
Yes, a fun close night of racing at the triple RRR. It was super competitive in all the classes and glad I could finally be in the mix.
Congrats on the WIN Rico!
Congrats on the WIN Rico!
Not to rain on the congrats but Rico wasn't the one on the top step...
Oopsss.......missed that!
Congrats to YOU Doc on that RACE win!
Congrats to Rico on the HEAT WIN!
So I have been in the scratch/resin building mode the last few months and have a hand full these cars and nothing to race them against... thinking a one-off race with maybe just a motor limit to keep the damage down. any 14k motor open chassis and body tire and run it after the normal race classes on a odd Thursday race night..

I have a world travelling 250 GTO that meets those specs.
I will have a couple of cars for this eventually. Would love to race them.
Well, let's do it then. need some simple rules.
1. Any resin body.
2. any 14-k motor in any motor setup.
3. open tire chassis can be 3d printed brass plastic ect
4. 1.5 mm min ride height
"4. 1mm min ride height"
.039", that is lower than what I am comfortable with.

would 1.5 be ok ?
1.5 mm equals .059".
.055" is the standard most 1/24 slot car groups use in our area. I would even consider .047" on lightweight 1/32 cars. For now on my track, I'm sticking with .055" as the standard for all cars.
1 mm or even 1.5 mm are odd specs for me. I can get a piece of wire in .055" or .047" to use for tech inspection.
Damage caused by hard parts coming into contact with the track surface are clearly visible on my track. Some of the evidence is years old I'm sure, but I see damage to areas I know I have repainted since the track was moved here. Some marks can't be avoided when caused by de-slots and crashes. However the indications of marks caused by gears coming in contact with the track surface when a car is lapping the circuit can be avoided. The track surface is not perfectly flat in all areas. Please check and verify the clearance you have on your cars between the lowest point of the car and the track surface! On most cars the gear will be lowest point of contact!
It is Festivus the holiday for the rest of us and odd Thursday race night. So who is bringing the aluminum pole to set for the night so we can gather around it and express our grievance over the past year. Should be some major lap time put down tonight with two very fast classes being on the schedule. Good luck to everyone except Al. Hope you loose a wheel or two.
Well, no racing tonight only 4 brave souls battled the nasty holiday traffic and one, Me ended up getting a fing migraine so we ended up doing the revo slot qualifying instead. try again in two weeks....
Well, another bust. the threat of covid keep most of the racers away from the track these last odd Thursday so it turned a test and tune with a fun 15min race thrown in the mix... hopefully in two weeks this will be all dying down and we all start getting back together and race.
Chris still has mild symptoms. According to the clinic where she works 5 days after she no longer has symptoms we are good to go. Meanwhile I'll hang out in the basement reimagining older builds.
Well, we finally got a race on the books. had 6 racers show up to race tonight... the track was hooked tonight. had some great side by side racing. remember, short turn around this time, there be racing again next Thursday. see u all then. stay safe.
It felt good to get some laps in, it had been quite a layoff. I was happy that some of my tweaking has helped close the gap to Doc "Super wide" Doom and Al. There's always close intense battles at Al's and last night was no different. See y'all next time.
