Re: Inslot's Checkered Flag Raceway - Set Up After the Move
Bill,
I've ordered some Scale Auto foamies in a couple of different compounds. When they get here we might need to do some testing to see which works best.

That sounds like a good idea Mitch. I sent Alan at the Scale Auto Racing Center an email message asking for recommendations regarding tires. I have not heard back from him yet so i guess I'll just go ahead and order a couple different sets also.
On his track I have had good luck with the whites on the lmp and high powered cars. Most of the gt cars run red foamies.

Thanks for the info Zack!
Yesterday I finished up the paint work on Inslot's Checkered Flag. Today I finished up a few details. I was able to remove all but one of the original stickers from the old side board/ fences I replaced around the bank, opposite end curve, and down the back straight, and re-apply them to the new side boards in the same positions. I'm keeping the track as close to original as possible.
Inslot's Checkered Flag is now ready for testing!
At this point I took a break from working on ICFR and moved my old HO track out into the sun.
She's not in too bad (pun intended) of shape considering she's hasn't been raced on in 12 years, went through a move, and a year of unconditioned storage. Today she got some work done on her frame. She is now on casters, and now lives under her mother track.
Here she is tucked nicely away.
Too cool!
Way too ingenious Bill, you da man!!
Thanks guys!
Today I put the floor in the HO track's framework. Although not shown in the photo, the floor extends the full length of the lower part of the framework. I can store 12 crates under there.
It has been great to be working outside in the sun these last couple of days. But with the sun coming out I now have to get to the yard work. Which means since I am not finished with what I want to get done in the shop, I will have to work twice as long!.......Not sure how long I can maintain a 4 to 6 hour day!
