It was kinda tough to do low dollar modifications using Slot it only parts other than blueprinting and my R&D skills are still developing  or non-existant, I'm not sure which.

What commercial tracks?  They can't seem to stay open around here.  I think it may have something to do with the active club racing that we have available in the area.  I believe that the wing cars would fall under Group 7.  I've seen some of them run back when Raceway USA was open and they are wicked fast.

Thanks alot Bill, that clears up much of what I wanted to know.  Does anybody still use these classes or is it just people using old terminology?

Fellow Slotheads-  I checked out Monte's digital system last night.  It definately adds some new elements to slot car racing.  You can now slam your oponents from behind as well as the standard "rub".  We also had a jumping/flying contest-not sure who one.....We both had some spectacular offs.  I found it to be a real challenge to get into the correct lane for pit stops and for passing.  I think I was pressing the lane change button too often or too late- I don't know.  Anyway it was fun.

Can anyone explain the difference between the motor sizes etc between 16D, S16D, 26D etc.  In addition, what the different classes are in general.  I always see Group 12, Group 15, WASP etc.  I am just trying to get a wrap on all the terminology and what it means.
Thanks

As always I have to fit my slot car activities around Kelly's work schedule and the kids activities but if the schedule is clear I will try to be there.  If the time and budget allow I want to try and get some type of permanent track up at my house.  More than likely running 1/32 scale either in Scaley Sport or a routed track if I get really ambitious.

Monte- Is the SCX system similiar to the Scalextric system?  I tried the Scalextric Digital out once and you had a button on the controller that you pressed to change lanes. I was running by myself so I didn't get to experience two cars on the same lane.

That would be the problem then, as I am using Internet Exploder.  It also does not work with Qwest/MSN browser either FYI

Bill/Monte- I was excited because my wife was working the 5:00am to 2:00pm shift the day of the race and thought maybe I could make it down on the assumption the race was at the normal evening slot.  After reading this post I found out the race is at noon instead.  It would be nice if the calender was updated with times and locations for all the races that are known.  It goes without saying we will not be able to make it.

Thanks for listenin

There are lots of vintage chassis/cars on ebay, and if you watch closely you can get some pretty good deals

I voted econo, but the EJ's kits would be ok by me, or something comparable.  On the forum in the link for the Tifosi class, there is a post about the D3 chassis.  These look interesting to me, but probably not too different from what I know of the current econo class, which is very little.  The Tifosi class looks like it would be fun, but I am unsure of the format to be used, can anyone shed some light?

Thanks for listenin

That seems to be the general concensus.  They are more like motorized displays.  I wish I had the scratch to purchase one.

Did you know that Revell-Monogram is also coming out with versions of this car (Lola T-70) in the near future?  Should be more affordable and raceable, I hope.

Bill- Aj and I would like to try and attend but as always finding time in the schedule is tough.  My wife's work schedule is always in flux .  Due to the broken arm it has been a little easier to deal with but I don't know when she wiill be back to evening shifts. Basically, if/when the class gets scheduled, I will have to try and work things out.
