As far as the Mclaren '93/'94 is the split.  If the car came out before '94 but was raced for several years like most privateer cars were then it would be legal for LMP as the rules are written. The F40 is an example of that. It appeared in '92 I believe but was competative for several years making it legal for both GFX & LMP.  The Marcos, Dodge Viper, the Porsche 962, and a few others all fall into this category. There are also a few that crossover from PGE to GFX, the GT40 being an example. '68/'69 being the break here.

To pile on to Mitch's post...  The reason we broke out the GT class into the divisions was to see era-compatible cars running together.  If they ran in both periods then they are allowed to run in both divisions.  They don't necessarily have to have run against each other in period, just that they played in approximately the same sandbox is good enough.

The true intent is to not have McLarens running against Audi R8's.

Bringing this topic up from the dead....  I haven't made catching up on this a priority.

Matt- still interested in the #6?  I will pass it along if you are.

I wish I could've made it but it was a Sat work night for me, and I am back at the cube for the rest of my week.  Looking forward to another opportunity though...  Looked like it'd be a fun place to hang out...

...I mean race.

No objection on my end.

Up next was the always fast and close battles. hand down the number uno class people want to run... let hear it for Le Mans. these was the class to watch as the top three battle neck and neck for 9 min straight there was no quarter given as the drivers battle to pull out a lead on the other cars .  once again it was who ever made the least mistakes was going to take the win tonight.... drum roll please......... and the winner to night was Doc taking the win by two laps. with Al taking 2nd and Mitch just two tenth back. on the same lap.

HEY!!!!  Keep that up and you might lose your nickname!  Congrats!

If payment timeline isn't a concern, I could be inclined to claim the big Mac.

Doc mentioned the above proposed rule change to the PGE Class here at ICFR on Monday. I'd like to give Chris Kouba the chance to weigh in on this since he is the Sponsor of this class.

Chris?

Sorry gents, I've been offline a bit.

If the Can Am cars are the concern, I'd rather include a restriction that Can Am eligible cars can only run in the Can Am class.  I would like to keep the open top option available for the class.  This would keep the Matra and Audi R8's as potential runners in their respective divisions.

Would that satisfy the intent, or does that mean that everyone will now be switching to the Matra?

Thoughts?

I'm still searching for how to quantify my results for the year.  It has a full spectrum of opportunity from good to bad and ugly...

Good: Top ten!!

Bad: Last...

Ugly: Tied with Bostic!

I will definitely need to try harder in the coming season.  Tip of the hat to Al though, and yes, the cars and drivers have all gotten quite a bit faster since my last visit to Rippin Ridin Raceway.

Yeah, if it's my long weekends I'd be in but I know the universe doesn't revolve around me.

At least I'll probably get a top 10 finish!

Nothing to be sorry about, just making sure if the question gets asked of "what are the actual rules?", I wanted to have them referenced and accessible.

By rules, I assume you mean Class 6 listed here:

http://www.naste.org/racerules.cfm

Presently quantified as:

_____________________________________________________________________________

Class 6 - Over 50

Cars eligible for the Over 50 Class will be cars with a mass produced chassis that was available in a kit or RTR (ready to run i.e. Cox, Strombecker, Revell, etc.). That also includes the chassis only kits, such as those manufactured by Dynamic.

No modifications will be allowed to the chassis (as in the addition of weight pans or handling pans).

Legal motors will be the 36D cans, as well as the motors that were used before the 36Ds became the standard (i.e. Kemtron, Pitman, Atlas, Tyco, etc.). I know what you're thinking; there is a lot of disparity between those listed motors and chassis types. True. So what I see is a possibility of a number of divisions within the class as this class of racing progresses. The cars will be raced all together, but finish positions will be scored according to division. The cars motor type, chassis type, and body type (either clear plastic type or injection molded model type) will be factors determining divisions within the class. I will be recording and keeping track of each cars lap times as well as number of laps completed during the races. At some point we may have enough data to combine some of the class divisions based on similar performance.

MINIMUM rear tire diameter shall be 1 1/8 inch!

Class Sponsor: Bill Bostic

Done.

Registration process started using my name and address.  Will advise if we are selected.

Anyone talk to Al?  Will he sign up?  I'll happily sign him up but would like to do it with his blessing.

I might even just sign me up and if we are selected, drop the cars off with him.

So has any one of the track owners signed the club up on these great offer yet.

Uh, I forgot to talk to Al about it.

Also, we found out that Bill has given-eth a new nickname/racername to Zack- ProZack!  I think the shoe fits!

Yes indeed, good times and good racing.  Was fun to be back in the saddle again.

I will be making a more concerted effort to get out on Odd Thursdays but may be a while before you get sick of seeing me...  I also have some tuning to catch up on with all my cars not flowing a single electron in more than a year!

Thanks, as always, for hosting Al!

This is the background on it:

https://www.hrwforum.com/forum/-1-32-sc … 3-giveaway

The takeaway is we apply and if accepted, will receive 10 911 GT3's to run a 5 race, single marque series and publish the results to NSR and presumably, the rest of the world.  It appears that tuning/parts swapping is allowed but with NSR parts only.

I would venture that we should submit with Al as our representative for the group.  If he reads this before tonight, I'm sure he can confirm or pass.  Otherwise, we can all discuss this tonight.

Regardless, it sounds like a fun program if we get selected.

Calendar says it's a Gp C finale on Thurs.  We can run that or run a TA or Classic race.  Bring what you have and we can pick- or run them both/all.
