After the heavy rains of Saturday we expected more of the same for Sunday but were pleasantly surprised to be rain free for the day with partly cloudy giving way to bright sunshine by afternoon. Dogs and brauts were grilled by the dozen, food was a-plenty and no one went hungry.  No one even tried.

And after some practice and a good stuffing teams were formed and rules were discussed.  The new rule this year was to reduce the plowing habit.  Drivers would actually need to try and pass rather than just boost the leading car off the track.  I'm OK with nerfing, it seldom results in damage, but the plowing of a slower car that can't get out of the way doesn't sit well with me.  So we threatened penalties for the plow drivers.  I'm pleased to say the threat of a penalty seemed to work wonders and none were handed out though a few were suggested by the competitors (imagine that).

Finally, colored leis were handed out so teams could easily be identified and it was time to rumble!

On the track, despite a false start or two,  teams were putting down laps with ferocious abandon, managing the fuel situation and working like teams.

At the half way point we stopped for a 15 minute break to manage a little car servicing and cheesecake.  Wonderful cheesecake.

After three hours there was only a 30 lap gap from first to last.  And in that final hour teams were on the attack going after the leaders.  Unfortunately half-way through the last hour gremlins attacked resulting in program failure.  The race was concluded at the halfway point with no way to resurrect the results of the half-heat.

Here are those results based on the first three hours:

Team 4 - 1183 laps
Tracy
Monte
Victoria
Levi *
Todd

Team 1 - 1164 laps
Mitch
Mike
Al
Kasia *
Ivan *

Team 3 - 1153 laps
Terry
Greg G.
Jessica
Rock *
Hannah *

Team 2 - 1153 laps
Greg P.
Lance
Dorothy
Jacob *

First I'd like to thank Victoria for countless hours of planning and preparation not to mention all those sausages we had to try just to decide which to use.  A big thanks to my daughter Jessica for quite a bit of the food prep not to mention the Cheesecake.  And thanks to Bill who didn't have time to stay and race but did make sure the BBQ was plumbed so we could all eat hot food. I was able to wrangle one of Dorothy's cheesecake bites and a couple of the chocolates I favor and then they were gone.  And finally thanks to all the rest of the contributors.

Thanks for coming, we'll hope to do this again next year.

Yes, thank you Al!  Good times indeed.

HA!  I got firts!  Now there's a first.  cool

A big thanks to Bill for hosting the Pony Wars Proxy and all the helpers.  We hope to do it again at Al's in two weeks.  See you there.

Very nicely done track layout.  I need to get back over there.

I'm going to plan on it.  I'll see if I can get the Tacoma Trigger as well.

The way your car was running you would have been right there.  I had one heat with 39 laps and I remarked it was a run as good as Bill.  But only one.

Thanks to Bob and wife for hosting yesterday.  Weather was great, the food was great and I didn't actually feel warm until the last few heats of the race.  All in all, a very pleasant day.

On the track, the stock Nissan with BOSA tires turned out to be a real rocket.  I intended to run my new Lancia.  A few practice laps showed that to be the wrong choice.  On the plus side, the Lancia still looks like new.  However the Nissan gripped like the devil with the only injury being a bent mirror.

I was worried about tire wear and even had extra sets of wheels with tires ready for a quick change.  Never needed them.  Clearance on the tires still looks good, ready for another race.  Pretty pleased with that.

Thanks for a great night of fun, so much better than power washing a deck.

I watched the video.  Very cool.

Was it slowing down via friction or was Dennis using the brake?  There is a brake?

How's team Ferndale coming along?  Any progress?  Anything we can do?

Hahahahahahaha.  An accident...  When I carried my box out I mentioned to Rico I was about 2 steps from an accident that could dramatically alter Victoria's future.

Wow, results from a guy that wasn't even there.  We admire and appreciate your dedication.

Shoulda been there, missed a good arse-whoopin'.

And thanks to Al for having us.

Monte would like to point out that it's a first heat win in class for the mighty Cobra as Mitch the Twitch had a pod, the devil.  And Monte would also like to point out that Monte don't do no third person.  cool

You're welcome, gents.  Dom was the man yesterday.  I also note that Todd is improving as well, he'll be passing Thomas soon.  The young racers are coming.

I suggest in the spirit of group harmony we consult with Bill on all future dates for tuning.  I'm guessing he'll know something we won't and it's best to have all the knowledge on the table.
