Just slightly less than 100 days to race day.
If there are those among you that would like to race but don't have a car let us know and we'll find you a ride.
Should be a good time with the big cars.

I can probably get out that way.
Chris, do you mean a list of what we can pick from? I think anything that would be on Doc's list should be ok if available.
It goes like this...
The problem with most ALL PC's is that the parallel port used to drive the track interface is a lousy partner for supplying enough voltage to run a relay. They weren't exactly designed with that purpose in mind but operating bi-directional printers - which they are very good at. It's all about voltage levels.
So what most solutions offer is a separate board that has circuitry on it that will satisfactorily drive a relay. This is what TrakMate does.
And this is where our Digital Racing Solutions Simple Start Board comes into play.
A useful element - it allows for a parallel port to drive relays by using low voltage detection and amplification in the simplest terms. However it's not really set up for higher current applications.
As an example, we use it here and at Rico's track where the cars are mostly 1:32. I have never seen these issues here or at Rico's of the power dropout.
On tracks where higher current motors are being used - Al's track - we are seeing the same issues. And we saw the same thing at Howie's.
And now that we understand it here's the easy fix...
1. Operate the SSB with an external power supply rather than connecting to the track power system. This helps more than you would imagine since voltage on a typical track application is varying as power is applied and can play havoc with relays.
2. One start board per lane if needed. Boards are rated at 15A. Not many cars will pull more than 15A each but a group of them will.
And there you have it.
I dropped off an external power supply and some resistors for Al's track yesterday afternoon. If the problem still persists, we'll move Al's track to a board per lane and the issue should be gone.
Advances in technology, ah the excitement.
Yup, the 911 is how I hear it. We should probably all get one.
I talked with our Scalex contact and we can get a 15% discount on a group order.
I'm in for two.
Contact me if you're interested and we'll get this going.
At this point, test results look promising. We've got Al making a similar test.
Nope, we fix everything. Top spots were all the same. I couldn't get out of second no matter how I added it.
I think I have what I need. I'll have something posted in the next day or so. Even Monte gets busy now and then. And that's unusual because Monte don't use no third party. Typically...
Using real math, I only found about 4 calc errors from what was announced at the race. Some nights are like that. When it happened at the rallies folks went nuts. For days...
Why I remember one time when I was back in Electronics School - yes, honest - and we had a written test EVERY day. The rule was that if you got a score of less than 75% you had to take your test home and rework the problems. I had never had to do that until this day... I missed the cut-off by one error. Taking my work home I spent the entire evening in total frustration reading and re-reading text to rework this one problem and get the desired answer. No matter how I tried, it always came out the same. I got so frustrated I threw a book at Victoria! I missed. I was clearly out of control.
The next day I took my test back and confessed that no matter what I tried I could not get the "correct" answer. I would appreciate the lesson. So my instructor worked the problem for me and got the very same answer I did, numerous times. He declared the answer sheet was WRONG!
Once again, Monte will post results soon. This month. Probably this week.
Did anyone get any pictures from Saturday? Hammer?
Wow, good job on the auction!
What, no Masers in yellow?
Fernando, email me the file please.
Might... Vic and I just got to town, going to have some dinner and stop by Fray-land if time permits. Otherwise it will be tomorrow. I know Bill's been at the track for some time now.
Nice Doc, my wife would approve.
Doc, I checked very closely but I couldn't find my name anywhere on that car, just some guy named Turner.
Me, I've been made the distributor. It's not clear yet if onesy-twosy is ok or it needs to be a bunch. I'll find out.
Or break the other one.
I suggest we make a list of all the possible classes. Pick 10 and start a rotation. Next year we can pick a different 10. Or something like that. Maybe only replace half per year so 5 holdovers and 5 new.
Scalextric GT? Are you kidding me? Tony is now Mr. Scaley. We got a source.
A class for yellow cars? Like making fun of a cripple...
it would not be a bad idea to look at our classes and try to get them organized a little better. I agree the F1 class is pretty well a monster that needs help. There are others...
Yes indeed, thanks Terry. Though I've never been a big proponent of practice it was nice to get a feel for the cars with our controllers. It should be a fun time regardless of outcome.
Well there's a shocker...
What are the dates and times please?
