True Mitch.  The ban was only about price.  Since then things have changed significantly.

I bought my Thunderslot Lola for about $60 as a white kit.

In my opinion we should run classes that allow for low-cost entry as well as those that allow for the higher value offerings.  Otherwise we run the danger of warding off the newer members merely on the shock of the sticker price.

For example, you can run an out-of-the-box Slot.It class that allows for removing the magnet and adding a little weight and you can run a Slot.It class that has a lot less restrictions so that you basically rebuild the chassis to be something other than what came out of the box new.  One is easy for beginners to grasp the other not so much.  Yet from 5 feet away they still seem to use the same cars.

I'm all for allowing most any car to run and I'm also for tighter restrictions.  To me the best racing is when we all have similar setups and it comes down to driving skill.

And as always happens, in time the optimal setup becomes apparent and those with the interest will adopt it.  As an example, how many Baby Kings did we start to see after the narrow little Cobra sprang to life?

Chris, the forum does not have a poll but the main site does have that feature, we haven't used it for a while.

Doc, yes keep the ban?

Which one?  GT?

I'm with you there.  It no longer seems unreasonable.

You know I may or may not already have one, right.

Well, that's before a few modifications.  Maybe...

So Greg snuck in with a Thunderslot?

With June comes pleasant weather and such was the case this past Sunday as a group of the faithful came together to celebrate a little fun and food.  With summer on the horizon we cranked up the grill and server dogs and burgers.  They must have been good, they all disappeared in short order.  So off to the track for a slightly modified format.  We ran a round of the Slot.It C Class and then followed that with a run what you want race.  Yes, an open race.

Here are the results:

Slot.It C Class

1.  Tracy Flood - 45.4 laps
2.  Monte Saager - 44.6
3.  Jeff Fields - 43.8
4.  Al Christensen - 42.7
5.  Mitch Brooks - 42.1
6.  Todd Flood - 40.9
7.  Victoria Saager - 39.2
8.  Amy Fields - 39.0
9.  Jimmy Jones - 35.7

Open Class

1.  Tracy Flood - 44.5
2.  Al Christensen - 43.0
3.  Jeff Fields - 42.7
4.  Todd Flood - 41.9
5.  Mitch Brooks - 41.2
6.  Victoria - 41.1
7.  Amy Fields - 39.1
8.  Monte Saager - 37.4
9.  Jimmy Jones - 34.8

And finally, winner of the day:

1.  Tracy Flood - 89.9
2.  Jeff Fields - 86.5
3.  Al Christensen - 85.7
4.  Mitch Brooks - 83.3
5.  Todd Flood - 82.8
6.  Monte Saager - 82.0
7.  Victoria - 80.2
8.  Amy Fields - 78.1
9.  Jimmy Jones - 70.5

Thanks to all for coming, we had a pleasant and enjoyable day.  And Jimmy, I have your F1 car.

GARDEN!  We've been working on ours for the past two weeks.  Come on out for first Sanday and have a gander ya'll.

Proxies...  I don't think there's a part of them I haven't been involved in from running to organizing.  In fact we just completed the final round of the Carrera Scramble at Rico's the other night.  I've got a car in the IPS and one coming together for the Ford-Porsche proxy.

And I certainly agree that some of these classes we run could use a little monitoring vs. a proposed spec.

We're talking about resurrecting the SCITCC.  One of the Australians is leading the charge.  No doubt they've been sharpening their knives in preparation for the last several years and have found what they believe to be a winning formula.

So a proxy class or two might be fun for the car builders but what about the others?  Loaner cars or legal to run out of spec?  Or do we just start looking at proxy rules and fit our classes to them?

He was there?

Should we contact Howie and arrange for a practice night?

Let's make a list of classes and vote.  But we should probably limit it to the 1:32 scale classes that at least have some chance of regulation.

We had 4 classes this year, correct?  Perhaps we keep 2 from this past season and add 2 new ones.

At least that's my idea.

Ya know, we probably had class champs and don't even know it.

So how do we go forward?  When does the next "season" start?  What classes will we run and how will we decide?

How about the year I won by beating the Flying one by a single point?  Can't get much closer.

Had to outscore him by 6 points in the final race and did it with some help from the ladies that night.  But I digress.

Congrats to all, it was a fun series.

Thanks to Rico and Kelly for hosting the race last night.  Good racing, good food and good fun.

Congrats to Tracy who I think may have won his first NASTE race.

A quick check of the season standings shows:

Tracy 82
Terry 81
Monte 80

It's going to be quite a race, no pun intended.  Next up: Hillsboro.  Get those digital trigger fingers dialed.

We could have run that upstairs hill climb.  Get those studs out!

I'll miss the old room, it was a sanctuary of true faith.  Long live the new one.

Any updates on the "old" track?
