Randy, Excellent job on the race yesterday! I got to make some new friends, and I thoroughly enjoyed racing the SCX NASCARs! The track was great, the cars were great, and the food was most excellent! Thank you for another great race!  And thank Myrna for feeding us!!!   ---------------------------Bill

Uhhhhhhhhhhhhh...........................................crap!!!!...............maybe you need a vapor barrier??????!!!!!!

How much room do you have between the blue lane and middle lane on the front straight?

Since the photo shows the cars in positions on the same lane, how about a thin wall barrier between the blue lane and the middle lane on the front straight just in that area?

A thin strip of plastic as a barrier wall next to that from straight will work. I think I have some material that would work....   -----------------Bill

I settled on a Porsche 917 Spyder for the first race. Didn't have time to finish up my Ford GT40.

The NSR tires I got wouldn't fit the Spyder. Not enough clearance between the tire sidewall and the top of the fender.

I'm going to try the Yellow Dog urethanes.

Len and I are planning to attend the race tomorrow (Jan.3rd). I still have 2 Toaster slots available if anyone wants to ride along!   ----------------Bill

You are right on the mark as far as I'm concerned! Building low buck cars and creating low budget classes is a real challenge but very rewarding! Our 1/24 NASTE chassis cars were based on this principle. Simple brass chassis, cheap Radioshack ($5) motors, and hard rubber model airplane tires (they never wear out). And as you stated they are still one of the most fun classes we race!!!! Thanks for your perspective!!!  ----------Bill

John, Thanks again for another great race! I always enjoy your events! There is plenty of track time for each racer, and the competion is close. I had the opportunity to meet more of the people in your area which is always a pleasure. I'm looking forward to your next event!  -----------------Bill

Oh, and by the way, tell Chrissy thanks for the most excellent pizzas!!!!

I guess that might be the easiest. They're readily available, and most everyone around here has at least one! I suppose you could also spec that motor for other classes....

Can some criteria or rules be established so various motors of similar performance can be used?

Today I found an uncut T-Jet turquoise Mustang hardtop in an antique store for $8.00 !!!!!!!!!  This is the first T-Jet I've seen in years for a decent price!!!!  ---------------Bill

If there are enough racers interested in the F1 cars, what about running two classes at once. As Rico suggested pre '64 or '65 (skinny tired cars) and post '64 or '65 (wide tired cars). We could race them together (which maybe kind of interesting) but score the points separately for each class or division. Racers could decide which type of car they would like to race. We could allow racers to race each type of car at each race if they so desire, or limit it to each racer racing only one type of car per race. Racers could race one type at one race and other type at the next race if they chose to. Racers could develope strategy as to what car they ran at which race. There are many options as to how the races could be run to include the different types of F1 cars.  ---------------Bill

The only problem I can see with that is my Cooper in non-magnetic configuration will probably not be competitive with the newer F1 cars like the Eagle. I think we need to do some experimenting to verify the competitiveness of the different cars. Wider tires equal more grip no matter how you look at it.   -------------------Bill

I have a Cooper.............I'm game!   ---------------------Bill

I am truly saddened to hear this news. He was a very generous and talented man! His kindness and generosity extended to koi and pond hobbyists as well as slot car hobbyists. I know he will be missed dearly!   -----------------Bill
