List updated from January 15th, '15 race.
Jeff Fields posted his first official win!
Goose Gossett posts his 30th win!
Greg Petrolati overtakes Bryan Trachsel on total wins with his 12th win!
Jimmy Jones celebrated his 71st birthday with us on this January 15th Odd Thursday Night of racing. A new name was added to the winners list. Jeff Fields scored hiw first win in the Classic Sports Car Class with his Slot.it Ford GT40! Jeff out ran 10 other racers to the checkered flag, winning by a full two laps! The early leader, John Morse developed rear tire trouble on his Ninco Corvette which dropped him out of the running for the top spot. Gary Goose Gossett narrowly beat Bryan Trachsel by 3/10ths of a lap in the Vintage F1 Class. Mitch Brooks scored his second win in the Vintage F1 Historic Division. We raced the Over 50 Class of old school 1/24 cars for the first time. There were a few equipment failures, mostly mine due to poor pre-race preparation, but the racing was very exciting and fun! Based on feedback from those in attendance, it looks like this will be a popular class. We had a few loaner cars on the track for this race, and the same loaner car helped drivers to the top three podium finishes. What was that car you might ask? It was a totally stock Classic sidewinder witha clear plastic Lola body. And then we raced a fourth class for the night, the ever popular BRM Porsche 962s. These BRM cars are just way too much fun! Even racing four classes, we were finsihed with the race format by 10:30pm! It was a great night of racing! Hope you had a great birthday Jimmy!!!

You're welcome guys! I'm with you Rico, I think those vintage 1/24 cars will be lots of fun!!!
Howie I'd like to commend you on the great job you're doing at Rapid Raceway! You are always listening to your racers, and you go out of your way to please us all. What you've given us is some of the best and closest racing I have seen in 1/24th for a long time! The car classes you have put together are exciting to race, and the cars themselves look great! In addition, those of us with lesser building skill can put together a competitive car. Thank you! ========Bill
She's been broke, blown up, and just plain run hard over the years. BUT, she is now faster than ever! There was a time I thought one of these old original Econo Car chassis was not competitive against the racers with newer more refined builds........Evidently I was wrong! There is nothing super-trick about this car, but yet I ran some laps within .07 seconds of the race winner!
An original Spare Time Raceway Econo Car by Bob Hanna, number 142. Thanks Bob for giving us less skilled builders a great chassis to race with!
The age old and ever popular Econo Car chassis originally designed and built by Bob Hanna, are still being raced regularly at Rapid Raceway. These cars are a blast to race, and I know many local racers still have one, or even two. If you'd like to dust yours off and get it back on the track, now is the time! Howie has modified his schedule to include his Sportsman Class cars, which use Econo Car type chassis. At his last race I ran my Econo Car which I have had for approximately 10 years (give or take). I have had some time to get my car sorted out, which amounted to adding some lead weight up front. I am running a Parma motor I bought right off the shelf at Rapid Raceway. Although I did not win the race, to my delight my car was right in the hunt, and very competitive! Now if I could just improve my driving skill.......................But then, that's a whole 'nother story!!!
OUCH!!!!
Maybe it comes fully assembled? That would be a HUGE improvement over the Scholer which came disassembled with the instructions written in German only!
Here's a couple of photos courtesy of Ebay that show John's Pactra Morgan in it's RTR configuration:
Fellow racers; this is a Sloting Plus chassis # SP800001. This chassis is a direct copy of the Scholer. It has been added to the rules to run with the Scholer chassis. It is made of stainless steel and from what I can see it has an improved motor mount and air vents for the motor. These are available at Professor Motor and I am going to make an order. If you want one ( $49.95 ) let me know today at the race or by Sunday the 11th. I am in a hurry to order these as one racer needs it right away.
See ya.
Howie.
Looks like she's about ready to rumble!!!!
I listed some cars and a Slot.it controller for Bryan Dickerson on Ebay tonight. Check out what he's got for sale. If there is something you're interested in you can save the shipping charge by picking it up. Plus you might be able to dicker with him on the price?

Great HO racing at WFO last night!!! Thank you to Bryan & Sherry for hosting and feeding us!!!
Thanks Dorothy for the excellent treats and your filming work!!!
Congrats to Jeff Wilson on his first NASTE Challenge win!!!
I was an HO enthusiast when I was a kid. My first set was a Gilbert 1/32 set which I loved. Then my Dad took me over to one of his friend's hosues and that guy's kids had a huge Aurora HO Thunderjet set up. Well, that was it! The next Christmas I turned HO!!! I still have a couple of my original cars.
Very cool stuff John!
Nice job on the GT40 roadster windshield buck!
I believe that Morgan body was a Pactra release. I've seen that chassis before, I believe it was one of the kit chassis you could in the 60's.
That's a good question Goose. I actually used my old Professor Motor controller with the thumb screw adjusters for testing. That controller is actually for 1/24 cars. We should probably do some more testing. With two people we can watch the amp meter while the other person runs a car to see how much amperage they draw at 10 volts.
Maybe if the new style electronic controllers we currently use are not suitable for these cars we could use old style wound resistor type controllers. That actually maybe fun! We could all use old style thumb plunger controllers!!!
