I meant "little" as in SIZE......but since YOU brought it up..............

HEY, what do you mean by "little"?!

Yes. For the T/A class you are limited to 8mm wide tires and approximate stock wheel size.

Per rules:
"- Any wheels may be used.
  - Any tires may be used, but must not exceed 8mm in tread width/contact patch, and must remain true to scale for Trans Am cars."

Thanks to Terry for the outstanding cars to race at Hammer Time, and thanks to Dorothy for the amazing food to eat! What a great time, thank you guys so much for hosting!

Thanks for the pics Chris.

Dan, are you the upgrades the rear end of your Trans Am car for your Pioneer Camaro? If so Greg probably has the info you need. He has done a lot of work to Pioneer Trans Am cars in the past.

We have completed some more testing of our BOSA Tires. Monte ran our new tires on his 1/24 BRM Porsche 962 at the last Odd Thursday night race. The tires fit VERY tight on the rims, they do not require gluing! They were true and smooth running without being sanded. They were slightly cupped but still provided excellent traction. Run sanding would help the contact patch.

Testing of the new HO replacement Tyco Turbohopper 4X4 tires took place this morning and again we saw great results. The difference in traction between the stock Tyco Turbohopper tires and the BOSA replacements was dramatic! The BOSA replacement tires definitely provided superior performance!

Odd Thursday at Rippin' Ridin' Raceway on May 19th.

There was a great turn out of drivers at Al's for the Odd Thursday racing. The racing started with the LeMans Class. Chris Kouba edged out Goose Gossett by a little over a lap to take the win. This is becoming a very popular class with very close racing.

LeMans Class:
1st Chris    64.3
2nd Gary    62.6
3rd Monte    62.4
4th Greg    62.1
5th Rico    61.7
6th Mitch    61.1
7th Al    59.4
8th Bill    55.7
9thDaniel    55.4

After the LeMans Class we raced the Tran Am cars. This is another very popular class and also has very close finishes. In this race the finish was again decided by about a lap and a half. This time it was Rico Locati getting by Al Christensen for the win.

Trans Am Class:
1st Rico    65
2nd Al    63.6
3rd tie Gary    63.4
3rd tie Chris    63.4
5th Monte    62.9
6th Greg    62.2
7th Bill    61.6
8th Daniel    58.9
9th Mitch    58.4

The third class of cars to the start line were the BRM Group C cars. Chris Kouba won the race beating out Al Christensen by less than a lap.

BRM Group C Class:
1st Chris    72.1
2nd Al    71.3
3rd Bill    69.2
4th Daniel    67.9
5th Greg    67.5
6th Monte    66.9
7th Mitch    66
8th Gary    64.9
9th Rico    62.9

After the BRM race we put the Over 50 Class cars on the track. This race turned out to be the most closely contested of the evening. Al Christensen showed that his KTM powered Cheetah is still the big dog in the Over 50 Class by slipping past Monte Saager for the win.

Over 50 Class:
1st Al    64.3
2nd Monte    64.2
3rd Gary    62.7
4th Mitch    62.2
5th Chris    61.5
6th Rico    59.5
7th Bill    58.6

A few racers stuck around for a quick run of the Classic Sports Car Class. With a lack of turn marshals, the race was run using track calls to stop the clock and power while cars were reslotted after crashes. The race ran very smoothly using this method. Mitch Brooks won the race with Goose Gossett in second.

Classic Sports Car Class:
1st Mitch    62.7
2nd Gary    62.2
3rd Al    61.1
4th Chris    60.7

Thanks Chris! We'll be adding more tire data such as dimensions and hopefully some photos. Lots to do besides just pouring these tires! Our first priority is to build up some inventory and selection.

The next NASTE IROC race is coming up on Sunday May 22nd at Terry & Dorothy Abbott's. This HO race will be the last race before the final NASTE Shoot Out at Howie's Rapid Raceway on Sunday June 12th.

Here is a copy of the Point Series Championship rules as originally written:

Championship Series Rules

NASTE Sanction - The words “NASTE sanctioned” must appear on race notices to earn Championship Series points. Casual, unposted or other races do not.

Declaration - Only racers who declare and pay a $5 fee will compete in the NASTE Championship Series. Racers in any Division are eligible.

Points – Each Championship Series racer’s points will be tracked for the racer’s overall finish position in each race. Overall finish positions are based on the finish scores of all the participating racers in all Divisions. Racers have 30 days to challenge posted event results. After that it’s “too bad”. Current NASTE Championship Series point standings will be posted for all to see on the NASTE website. In addition, each racer will be awarded one half of a lap, .5 for each win they score leading up to the final Shoot Out race. Racers are only eligible for the 1/2 lap bonuses on non-hosted tracks. In other words, racers can only receive the 1/2 lap bonuses on tracks they do not own and operate.

Best 5 - Each Championship Series racer's final points total will be based on the racer’s best 5 race finishes.

Championship Run Off - The final race of the racing season will be the NASTE Championship Run Off. This race will be an all-day event and consist of all the racers that have declared their desire to compete in the series and paid the $5 fee. Racers not in the Championship Series will race for door prizes. The top seven racers in points will compete in the Run Off. The racers below the top seven in points will compete in the Trophy Dash. The race format for the top seven in the point series standings will start with the B Main. The B main will consist of the bottom four of the seven in points. The winner of the B Main will move up to compete in the A Main with the top three in points. The winner of the A Main will be the NASTE champion for the season.

Here is the race schedule for the Shoot Out:

NASTE Shootout 2016 Schedule

Race No.1
Participants = All racers not competing in the Point Series Championship. Prizes awarded to the winner, second, and third places.

Race No.2 = Trophy Dash
Participants = Point Series participants below the top seven in points. 1 trophy awarded. The race winner has the option to receive the Trophy Dash award, or participate in the B Main event with a chance to compete for the Point Series Championship.

Race No.3 = B Main

Race No.4 = Point Series Championship
Participants = Point Series participants, first through third in points plus the winner of the B Main. Winner’s name added to the NASTE Point Series Championship Trophy.

Are you looking for Magna-braid or just tinned copper braid?

I think Larry Cockerham may have some he'd be willing to sell.

Sorry Stan, I used copper tape on my track.

The second work day on the Gravity Racer went well. Dennis started off the day by feeding us some excellent BBQ hamburgers! After we were all full we went to work. Since the last work day dennis had completed and installed the nose section, rear bulkhead and set back, as well as the rear tail section. Work is progressing well and we are on schedule!

OVER 50 Class racing.....TOTALLY!!!

http://www.naste.org/members/bill/IMG_2410.jpg

OK....EXCEPT for this GUY!

http://www.naste.org/members/bill/IMG_2413.jpg

Last night Goose scored his 74th Odd Thursday Night win! With Rico's two wins last night, and Chris' win in the new Le Mans class, Rico and Chris are tied for second in Odd Thursday Night wins with 41. And for extreme consistancy, Bryan Dickerson placed fourth in all three of the races he entered last night!

Lists updated as of May 5, '16 races.

Thanks for coming out to race guys. I had a lot of fun! We did have a good turn out with 15 racers to start the night. We still had 10 racers in the BRM race which started after 9:00pm!

The new LeMans Class was a big hit. The racing was very close with finishes like we are seeing in the ever popular Trans Am Class. We tried something new in the Over 50 Class. We used IROC style controllers with one old style Cox thumb plunger controller at each driver's station. One of the controllers was one for hotter motors and had a lower resistance resistor in it. That one was a little touchie, but the other two were pretty similar. The controllers made the racing "interesting" to say the least, not to mention making the race a true over 50 year old event. On a side note, two racers were disqualified for not meeting the "official" over 50 rule. Both racers were under 50 years of age.................Just kidding, we didn't disqualify them, we just made them race in diapers!......OK, just kidding there too..........
