We had another great night of racing at Al's Ripin' Ridin' Raceway! Last night's Odd Thursday Night race included the seventeenth race of the 2017 NASTE Point Series Championship. With only one race remaining, things are tight at the top! Going into the last race two points separate the top two.

The F1 Class was exciting last night with a variety of F1 cars represented from different manufacturers. Gone are the days of Scalextric's dominance of the F1 class. Unfortunately I had tyo leave early last night so I missed out on the BRM Group C race as well as the GT3 race. But I am sure both races were just as exciting and fun as the F1 and Classic Sports Car races were!

Thanks Al for yet another awesome night of racing!

I'm sure he has a weight advantage in cornering, but my 'weight" should help me in straight line speed!.....yet to be proven!

The test site we have been using is a good smooth section of road with very little traffic. There are good places to get tow vehicles off the road with space to unload. It was a beautiful day...........most of the day....

This is what it looks like with me stuffed into the MKII. It is a very tight fit. Chris pretty much built this car around me. Once belted in I am literally part of the car. It is a weird feeling!

I must say Chris can really drive! I couldn't stay with him on our two downhill runs! Not to mention he looks better in the car!

This is the newest team member Jeff Chochon. Jeff won the auction for the chance to drive the Scuderia Kouba MKII in the Portland Adult Soap Box Derby. The auction was held for my Granddaughter's school, Creative Science in Portland. A second auction will be held at Buckman Arts Elementary in Portland this month. Contact Jeff Burns if you're interested.

My first run of the day in The Hawksbill Flyer was a shorter slow pass. After my off road excursion in the last test session I wanted to make sure I had some things sorted out! I didn't forget my helmet this time either!

I don't know where or how to even start to describe my day yesterday. I'll start with AWESOME! I did NOT leave the road in any of the test sessions. I was very happy with the Hawksbill Flyers performance, which by the way it raised its fastest posted speed to 47 MPH! I felt the rush of adrenaline multiple times! I drove a 3 wheeled, non motorized vehicle at speeds of somewhere around 50 MPH for extended periods of time. I piloted that same car through multiple hairpin corners in full lock rear wheel slides without brakes! I scared the shit out of myself multiple times!.......................MAN, what a fun day!

Thanks to all the team members that made it out to make this day happen! Howie, Beau, Dave, Jeff Cocher, Jeff & Jenny and the little Burns, Dennis, and BIGSBY! For those of you that don't already know, Bigsby is The only official 4 legged member of the Scuderia Team. And to Chris Kouba! Chris has made all of this possible by building some fantastic gravity cars! And to Dennis Hart. Dennis put us on this path by building the first gravity car and introducing us all to this insane world!

I have a lot to process (and not just in my head) from yesterday's event. There were many pictures taken as well as videos so as they arrive I will be posting more information on the Scuderia Kouba website as well as the Gravity racers Facebook page.

At this point I'm not sure I'm going to survive this move! I've been boxin' and movin' stuff. I have most of the smaller stuff from upstairs boxed and moved now. Hopefully Friday I can start moving some of the bigger stuff out of the room. I'm too old for this shit!................

Thanks for the reminder Doc!

Calendar updated!

As the Scuderia Kouba website developes more of the gravity racing stuff will be posted there instead of here on our slot car site. NASTE is again one of the sponsors of the team for the PDX Adult Soap Box Derby this year. We have started a list of volunteers for this year's race, and we could definitely use more! If you are interested in volunteering and taking an active part in the race this year please let me know! The race is Saturday August 19th!

If you would like to be added to the gravity racing teams email list please let me know. The folks on the list receive information regarding test and work sessions, as well as updates on the Portland Adult Soap Box Derby Race in August.

Now that the new Scuderia Kouba Gravity Racer site is up and running, we will be posting all the gravity racing information on that site instead of on the NASTE Forum here. You can keep up with what's going on by going to the Scuderia Kouba site here:
