Agreed and thanks for racing clean with no nerfing. I know Bill, you'll try to do better. You've been saying that for years. How many diversity training sessions were there?

Race cars are neither beautiful nor ugly. They become beautiful when they win.

Re: NASTE Odd Thursday Night Racing Rules & Current Thread

Actually, many, many, many..........I believe I failed them all.................Not really sure as they had quit talking to me by the time the classes were over..........

Re: NASTE Odd Thursday Night Racing Rules & Current Thread

Sorry Doc....it was on the charger in the other room..........again.................

Re: NASTE Odd Thursday Night Racing Rules & Current Thread

What an great night at Al's place! We had good racing across all the classes and a big turnout for the first points event of the year.

Al pulled out the win over me by just a couple tenths of a lap, he put in some work on his car in the down time and it showed. With my first heat being a little rough I couldn't catch him!

In LeMans the whole middle of the field was tight, and it was some of the best racing I have seen at Al's place. Almost every heat had great battles throughout.

Open is always fun, Rico's and Kouba's slot.it cars beating out a few thunderslots for the podium!

Rico won BRM as usual! Kouba gave him a heck of fight however, with only a few tenths victory.

I got a couple shots of the podium cars and whatnot.....

Re: NASTE Odd Thursday Night Racing Rules & Current Thread

I didn't even notice but if that's the Spirit Ferrari, we'll need to change the rules:

Any Le Mans competitors modeled by Fly, Scalextric, Monogram, Revell, or Ninco which ran in the 1971 event or prior are eligible for competition.

Re: NASTE Odd Thursday Night Racing Rules & Current Thread

Monte, yeah we talked about that last time we were racing. I don't believe it has any advantage over the fly versions of the 512, but it would be good to add the manufacturer to the list so other people don't question their choice as well.

Re: NASTE Odd Thursday Night Racing Rules & Current Thread

I think they've probably got a few other cars that might qualify.  I think Bill has the complete Spirit collection, Bill?

And Chris, can we update the rules for the class to include the Spirit cars?

Zack, what tires were you running?

The car was on 15x12 cb design wheels and F1 sized NSR Supergrips. I think that is the primary advantage of the 512, the rear tires are huge, so with no power it is easy to get something that is just locked in all the time!

Re: NASTE Odd Thursday Night Racing Rules & Current Thread

Spirit is absolutely within the intent of the rules.  The class was created for all the excellently modeled cars we had sitting around gathering dust because they were so damn slow.  Spirit fits that profile, although with Zack's tuning, I'm not sure how slow they will be going anymore!

Bill holds the edit privilege for the rules thread, so he'll have to do it but I certainly authorize it.

Re: NASTE Odd Thursday Night Racing Rules & Current Thread

And yeah, what Doc said.  "A games" all around!  Great racing, great heats, great time!  Thanks Al!

Re: NASTE Odd Thursday Night Racing Rules & Current Thread

The rules for the Le Mans Classic Class have been edited to include Spirit cars.

Re: NASTE Odd Thursday Night Racing Rules & Current Thread

For the record, any other brands (present, past or future) which fit the profile of well detailed but too slow to keep up with the Slot.It/NSR/T-slot crowd and which fit the other class criteria should be eligible for inclusion.

Re: NASTE Odd Thursday Night Racing Rules & Current Thread

Just looking over the calendar, there are no races the 17th, what about nov 7th?

Zack

Re: NASTE Odd Thursday Night Racing Rules & Current Thread

Doc, i am hoping not I will be at SEMA that week.

Zack

Re: NASTE Odd Thursday Night Racing Rules & Current Thread

I have a feeling the 7th just hasn't been scheduled yet. If Al is unavailable we can probably arrange  to do it here in Tigard if you Eastern folks can find your way across the river on a Thursday afternoon.

As for Spirit, The Spirit motor is a ways out of spec for this class, I know mine is awfully hot. Other than that it looks just like a Fly car, just a very pretty Fly car.  Zack has already replaced his with a Black Stripe. That should be noted in the rules.

Re: NASTE Odd Thursday Night Racing Rules & Current Thread

In the future, I'd like to see us move away from the alleged "black stripe" toward something that is available as a new part online.  The different versions that you run across in the cars are occasionally just that, different.

I find those blue motors rather refreshing and reasonably priced.  We should consider a large bulk buy.

Comments gladly accepted.

Re: NASTE Odd Thursday Night Racing Rules & Current Thread

As a Foot note to the Spirit Car:
Zack's looked so good going around the track that I pulled mine down off the shelf and started fooling with it. The first thing I did was pull out the motor and hit it with the tach. 26K at 12 volts.
That was about what I was guessing.
I added some weight and found an old Scalextric/Fly motor that tested at 18.3K and put it back together and sanded the tires.
where my rattlely old 908 and Fly 917 were in the 7.3-7.4 range this now runs about 7.1 but it is smooth lap after lap.
It's not nearly as fast as the podium cars but it is pleasant to drive and looks great doing it but it also tells me my other LeMans cars need some more attention.

Re: NASTE Odd Thursday Night Racing Rules & Current Thread

The motor I pulled out of mine wouldnt have been any difference to be honest. It had a black stripe. But i had a broken in fly motor already so I just tossed it in.

Zack

Re: NASTE Odd Thursday Night Racing Rules & Current Thread

Mitch, yours must have screamed! My stock one was only 19 xxx, which is about what my 3 broke in fly motors are.

Zack

Re: NASTE Odd Thursday Night Racing Rules & Current Thread

It was twitchy without a doubt. Very comfortable driver now.

Re: NASTE Odd Thursday Night Racing Rules & Current Thread

November 7th is the first day of pre-races in Tacoma before the 24-hour race...

Re: NASTE Odd Thursday Night Racing Rules & Current Thread

Good reason

Re: NASTE Odd Thursday Night Racing Rules & Current Thread

I will be at sema, and hopefully go from there straight to the 24hr.

Turnout isnt looking too good for that date!
