About NORTHWEST TRUE SCALE RACERS
We are a small group of slot racers with many years of experience among us. We are a laid back group who have a lot of fun at our races. New or experienced racers will always find help if needed in the selection of parts to learning driving skills. We try to make a racer feel at home and help him or her enjoy the hobby/sport.

Rapid Raceway is designed for easy learning, big turning radius on all corners is very forgiving and offers an easy flow. The track is high enough off the floor to see your car at a comfortable angle. A lot of room around the  driver stations and are easy to get to and can be moved around if need be and there are no blind spots. Many positive comments on the track design over the years.

With the demise of the commercial tracks in the area, the only way to go now and we think in the future is by private tracks. Rapid Raceway in the n.e. Portland area fills up a void in the 1/24th., 1/25th. true scale format and has been racing since Nov. of 2002.

The goal of this group is to promote  1/24th., 1/25th. scale racing to reflect the real race cars that you see racing in this country and around the world.  We use kits such as AMT, Revell, Monogram among others. Three classes use Lexan ( Can-Am, Porsche 962 and new for 2016 is GT-3 ). New for the 2017 season and beyond is the Gen. 6 NASCAR with Lexan bodies. When using Lexan we make sure that it is cast in the true scale form to reflect the real car.

Another goal is to hold costs down by using the same chassis for different classes and inexpensive motors, NASCAR being the exception as it runs a more expensive open motor and the Sprint class is an open chassis while the Xfinity  is a restricted chassis. Can-Am also uses an open chassis. There are classes for the hobbyist who wants to build from scratch to one who wants to buy and bolt together and go racing.

We do our racing in the fall and winter months, usually from early Oct. to mid to late May.

Check out our schedule and contact us and attend one of our race nights to see for yourself what it is all about. Coffee and cookies are always on the bench.

This is not a club so no dues. If you want to throw a couple of dollars into the box on race night, it would be appreciated, but it is strictly a volunteer deal. I don't count the money at the end of the race.

If you like slot cars, whether you are new or a veteran, this may be the place for you.
