Topic: 2015 NASTE Racing Season Schedule

We are close to the kick-off of the 2015 NASTE Racing Season!

  Our racing will start with the Nasteburgring races in Tacoma on Saturday September 13th 2014. Start thinking about carpool arrangements NOW!!!

  There will be some exciting improvements for this season!

  After some discussion at the Racin' & Ribs BBQ, race, and meeting it was decided the NASTE Point Series Championship (expert division), and the NASTE Challenge (amateur division) would be scored separately. The two divisions will also be divided and race independently at each NASTE race whenever possible (this will depend on attendance and the number of entries at each race).

  It was also decided we would go back to the practice of allowing racers to throw out races. Meaning, only a portion of the 15 scheduled races will be scored for each racer. For the Point Series Championship or expert division racers, 10 of the 15 races will count for their point total. For an expert division racer that attends all 15 races,  their 10 best finishes will count for their total points. The racer would be able to throw out 5 of his lowest scoring races. The same goes for the NASTE Challenge amateur division, with the exception of only 8 races counting for their overall score. With this format in place the expert division racers need to attend the majority of the races, but not all. The amateur racers will need to attend just over half of the races. This takes much of the pressure off trying to make all the races. It will also make for a very close points race in both divisions! I fully expect some point ties at the end of the season, so here is the last change for this year: the last race of the season will be the Shoot Out. The Shoot Out race will be held to break all ties in the point standings. This race will not be scored for series point totals, it will only decide winners of the ties.  In addition there will be a Shoot Out trophy for the overall winner!

So there you have it. It should be an exciting season full of fun and close competition!

It is time for track owners to sign up to host races for the 2015 NASTE Race Season.

As in previous years, I will be sending out an email with a list of the race dates. Track owners that are interested in hosting a NASTE race for the 2015 season need to reply to that email message, picking their desired race dates from that list. Track owners should pick three desired race dates in order of preferrence, as I will be assigning tracks to the race dates on a first come first serve basis. I will keep the race date list posted here on the forum updated as requests come in.

Track owners,

We still have 10 open race dates for the 2015 NASTE Point Series. I am opening the schedule up to also allow the tracks that have already signed up to host races to pick an additional race date if they so desire. If you are interested in hosting a NASTE race for 2015 and have not yet signed up for a race date, now would be an excellent time to do so!

UPDATE:

The kickoff race for the NASTE 2015 racing season will be held at TooBad Motorplex in Fairview.

I have had requests to hold a Saturday race for racers that are unable to attend the Odd Thursday Night races, as well as those that are not really inetersted in the NASTE Point Series IROC races. This kick off race will be an all day event starting with a breakfast gathering at the Stagecoach on NE 201st & Sandy Blvd. The Stagecoach has a $4 breakfast special that is fantastic. The breakfast meet will start at 9:30am. Following breakfast the track at TooBad Motorplex will be open for practice from 10:30am to 11:30am. At 11:45am the green flag will drop for a Vintage F1 Race. This race will be for the vintage F1 cars as raced in the NASTEburgring races. The rules pertaining to car setup will be the same, and are described in this forum under 1/32 events. After the F1 race there will be a break for lunch. Racers will be on their own for lunch. There are many local restaraunts close by, as well as fast food venues. The track will be open for practice during the lunch break. After lunch there will be a race for the Classic Sports Car Class as raced in the Odd Thursday Night races. The rules for those cars are sec'd out in this forum under Race Rules. Practice for the NASTE Point Series Race will start at the usual time of 4:00pm, we will be serving pizza for dinner from 5:00pm to 6:00pm, with the IROC race starting at 6:30pm.

Racers interested in participating in the 2015 NASTE Point Series Race are not required to attend all the races during the day. The races prior to the point series race are optional, and will not be scored for points. Only the IROC races in the evening will be scored for the point series.

This will be a full day of racing, and racers may attend any of the individual races, or all if they so they desire!
