Could be!!!!.............and you're not the only one!!!
I'm high on them Jalopies! Here are 4 of mine
At Pelican Park Speedway one of our 12 1/24th classes is the Jalopy class. Cars are a bit different from the NASTE cars. The Cherokee Garage and the Al Dykes sponsored cars are models of NASCAR's earliest 1940's racers.
Hello Todd M, Glad to see you stop in! Man I love those cars of yours! Good news for us, exchanged emails with Doug and he's going to host a NASTE race at Pelican Park this coming season! I'm really looking forward to getting down there and racing with you guys! ----------------------Bill
what chassis are they? it sounds like a relatively cheap class, therefore i'm interested
AJ, they are scratchbuilt, but very simple in design. If you go to the "old" NASTE web pages you can see some chassis examples. If there's enough interest, one day we'll do a build session where those interested can come out and build cars. When NASTE first started we would do build sessions, and in a couple hours racers could build complete cars. The total cost of the vintage chassis (ready to run) is about $15. That is less the model car body. As far as cheap bodies, Bryan and I went to the model car swap meet this past summer, where we were able to pick up model bodies at very reasonable prices. You can get model car bodies and kits cheap there. ---------------------------Bill
well i'm interested, i've always liked jalopys. i'd definetly try to be at a build session and make a car, then maybe i could make a few more naste races
Tell you what AJ, I'll see if I can put something together soon. I've been thinking about building some more IROC cars anyway. What day, date, and time would work best for you? --------------------Bill
i'll have to see what days my mom doesnt work, but a weekend would probably be best. for time, on weekdays later afternoon and for weekends almost any time my sisters not playing soccer
