Topic: Body mounting

I found this article that shows a very cool "tape-less" body mount system.

It allows pretty much complete disconnection from the chassis while still offering pretty solid crash protection!

I will definitely be giving it a shot on a future car build.

Re: Body mounting

I've seen Beau use a method similar to this some years back.

Re: Body mounting

WAY back in the day, when I was building chassis for clear bodied cars, I would solder a couple of very small brass tubes across the chassis (parallel to the axles) that just fit inside the body. I'd drill 4 small holes in the body and attach the body to the chassis using slightly bent sewing pins through the body and unto the brass tube. It worked best if the holes in the body were tight to the pins. I never had a pin fall out in a race and yet the body was easy to remove. Is this a practice in use today?

Re: Body mounting

Welcome Alan, the pin technique is still in use today, and as you stated it works very well for the clear type bodies!
