This original 1/24 Monogram Ferrari body was also re-released as a model kit. This original is really clean.
1/24 Cox Lotus. This has got to be one of the most popular slot cars ever produced! Through my years of collecting I have bought and sold a bunch of these! This one is a pretty clean build.....I've seen many that weren't!
A nicely painted 1/24 clear Ferrari body mounted on a Cox Chaparral chassis. I just like this one.........
This is a scratchbuilt car that I believe was built by Jerry Gaston and raced in southern California. The Strombecker Hemi motors seemed to have been a favorite of Jerry and Nortons. This car is very nicely detailed. My plans for this car include restoration of the chassis.
This is a nicely painted and detailed Ford GT40 in 1/24 scale. It is either an Aurora or K&B, but the manufacturers I.D. is missing from the bottom of the chassis. I don't know if it was removed, or if this was maybe a home racing set car sold by sears or the like?
Marx actually made some pretty nice 1/24 cars. This Chaparral is a prime example. This one is clean and complete.
This 1/24 scratchbuilt car was one of the cars from Norton Gaston's collection. Norton's father, Jerry Gaston, worked for Cox with another engineer designing and building slot cars. As I have been going through the collection I have been looking for scratchbuilt cars that may have some early chassis designs that became production cars. One thing I noticed was the drop arm on this particular car. A rubber band is used to "spring load" the movement of the drop arm and guide flag. This is similar to the design of the La Cucaracha and Chaparral 2E chassis. I have no way of verifying this, and there's no way to know which came first, the Cox production cars or this scratchbuilt. Nevertheless, this one is very nicely detailed and extremely cool!
At one time this one was probably a very nice 1/24 Ford GT40. It's still not too bad, a little dirty, and needs some re-assembly. It looks like it was someone's favorite and raced quite a bit.

I believe this is a Can Am Lola model car body and was built by the same person that built the Chaparral 2G in the previous pictures. This body is also mounted on a Cox magnesium chassis. It is also very well done!
1/24 factory painted Lola T70 vintage clear body. I believe this is one of the bodies from a Monogram slot car kit.
This looks like a Daytona Cobra Coupe body that would have come in the same Monogram slot car kit as the previously pictured Lola T70. The kits offered the builder a choice of two factory painted bodies.
This is just a nicely painted Pontiac GTO vintage clear body.
This model car body was painted and detailed by my friend John Gill. John designed and printed the custom decals himself. He gave me the body to race on my Sportsman car, but I only raced it once. This is a one-of-a-kind and I don't want to ruin it!
This is a new 1/24 factory painted DuBro body. I just can't bring myself to mounting it on a chassis! It will remain a collectible for me.
This brings us to the bottom shelf of the display case. Where most of the 1/24 scale F1 cars live. This first car is an early attempt at transforming a battery powered model car into a slot car. My original thought was maybe some day I'll complete the job. In reality I may never get there. But I think its cool anyway! It was customized from a Strombecker motorized Mercedes Benz model.
In addition to slot cars, quite a few years ago I started collecting Pine Wood Derby cars. Since then they have also gotten pretty expensive (evidently I am not the only one collecting them). This is one of the nicer ones I found before the became valuable! It is an older build, judging by the early wheels. It was very nicely done!
Everybody that has old slot cars has at least one of these Cox controllers! This is the only one I have that is still new in the box!
Champion has manufactured some great chassis through the years. This 1/24 chassis makes for a great handling slot car, even by today's standards.

These aluminum techand cooling blocks were manufactured by Kirk Smith and Hugh Ellsworth under their In Slot Racing business name. This was Hugh's personal one he used at the races. It is now part of my local slot car history collection.
I like F1 slot cars....a lot! I like the way this Eagle was detailed and painted. Maybe not really accurate, but the boy in me says cool!
This Cox Lotus is pretty rough. Maybe someday it will undergo restoration?

Atlas made some really nice 1/24 F1 slot cars! This is their version of the BRM. Check out the nice brass bevelled gear set.

This Atlas Cooper, like many of the cars in my F1 collection, came from my friend Dick Gehrke. Dick kept very good care of them through the years!

For over 20 years, NASTE has held their Annual Halloween Race. I built this car for racing in Halloween races. It has competed twice. It never won..........goes really fast down the straights..........does NOT like corners!

I don't remember for sure (old guy issue), but I think this may be one of Hal Tacker's paint jobs on this clear body. It is mounted on a Dynamic chassis. One thing for sure, it is definitely cool!

This is an original Revell Lola T70 with a factory paint job.
Another Cox 1/24 Cheetah. The body on this one is clean, original, and complete. The chassis is missing some parts.
I like the paint job on this 1/24 Porsche. It is mounted on a modified Dynamic chassis.

This appears to be a factory paint clear body shell mounted on a Gar Vic chassis.
This is another slot car I have had many of through the years. However this was the first that was original and complete. Most were broken or cut up.
These 1/24 Revell Cooper Fords are hard to find in this condition. It took me a few years to find one this complete, and this nice!
