Topic: Womps and Flexies today

8 of us got together at Bill's today and raced Womps and Flexies.

Dave Smith took a look at what I was pushing around the track and gave me some pointers on Womp set up.

When I got home I changed the gearing from 7/25 to 8/25.

I repositioned the motor so that the shaft centered on the center of the rear axle.

I lowered the body by about 3/16"

Not only is it now much quieter, I gained 5/10s on each lap at least on my track.

Thanks Dave

That looks 100% better Mitch!

Re: Womps and Flexies today

As Mitch posted we ran a couple races during yesterday's open track day. We first ran a Womp race trying out a new format. Inspired by the format used at Pelican Park we tried out a race consisting of 20 lap sprint races. Using this format and a scoring system based on points for your finish position, each heat race was a heads up race for the win. Racer's average lap times was used to break any ties in the points. The racing was very close! With 8 racers on hand it only took 45 minutes to complete the race. Response to this race and format was positive, so we will run this again next Monday.

Here's the Womp Race results:

After the Womp Race we raced Flexi's. For this race we used a traditional round robin format with 3 minute heats.

Here are the Flexi Race results:

After the Flexi race it was suggested we either race 4 inch or 4.5 inch chassis only, not both. I have given this some thought and based on the fact Bob Nakamura's track is like a super speedway, and has chosen 4.5 inch flexi chassis to race on his track, I think we should race 4 inch chassis at Inslot's Checkered Flag, since Checkered Flag is more like a short course.

Re: Womps and Flexies today

No rules on body types yet. Open for discussion. I would like maybe Can Am or sports car bodies? LMP or Le Mans?
