Here's a link to the cars we're talking about if anyone is interested:

Strombecker Cheetah, Lotus 30 and Chaparral 2

Porsche RS-60
http://www.ejshobbies.com/cars/revell/revell.html

It looks like the Lotus 30 might have a different motor than the others.  Hard to say but it would be a fun group to run together.  He's also got a pretty good deal on a complete brass chassis setup for both 1/32 and 1/24.  I doubt that they will handle like a Tifosi but that's not exactly the point here.  Just good-old-fashioned racin'.  And the parts are available to keep them running if we get too wild.

Yes, those were the cars I was talking about.  Let me know what you need, I'm always willing to help.  Especially if we can get the EJ's guy to throw in a few extra bodies.  We know he has 'em.

I voted for Flexi's so I have no idea.  Of course there were those kits that the one place had on sale - the Cobra, RSK and so forth.  Didn't you get one of those?

Here's a link to the results:

Here's some pictures from the event taken by the only Oregonian NOT pictured - Victoria:

That's Fantasy World Tony on the left, Bruce in the middle,  and the Professor on the right.

Derek, John's son, in red racing with the Oregonians...  racers Mike Lombardi in blue plus Byron and Randy Stumman with Monte as the corner marshal.  That's the Professor and wife Chrissy on the other side.

As you can see, the Corvette WAS the quick car.  Everyone wanted to drive that car.

The Professor, Randy and Tony squaring off with Corina, the fastest girl racer I've ever seen.  Also the quietest!  Corina's dad Bruce is in the back in the white hat.  That's Curtis, Bruce's son on the left.

It was another super time.  It's a fun track to race on and a cool format.  This time we actually got to race quite a good part of an hour in the dark.  I always like that.  The folks and the food are great.  And being on the winning team never hurts.

Strap tires all over one of 'em.  I'd just have to know.

Get two of each then you won't feel so bad putting one of each on the track.  smile

They may not be that bad, I re-read the review and I think it was the stick-on decals that probably put me off.  However that's just a personal thing.  If they run like SCX cars, they will be fine, just slow.  Well, slower than a Slot.It.  But they will run well unto themselves.  In fact, they might be just perfect for a NASTE IROC!

Personally I found their web site annoying but in our continuing effort to provide all the pertinent information, have at it:

There's more on the next page too.  Also check out the listings for the Orbital car...  go figure.

The reviews likened them to a Yugo.  Buyer beware was their advice.

Now if you could make the body out of that popsicle wrapper...

Personally, I prefer styrene but the process is about the same.  I used graph paper with little squares and then taped the chassis to the paper to help align things.  For those of you with jigs, that part will be much easier. I'd be up for a builders series of styrene or popsicle cars.  Autumn Hills is the perfect track for such cars.  Would be interesting to see which technology is better.  Ok, so "technology" may be pushing the envelope a bit there.  wink  I'm not sure but 25k may be too much motor and might tend to separate the car.  Then again, if you use JB Weld, probably a falcon is ok.

Does that mean that the tires didn't get "lumpy"?

I have another unused Saleen body that's still in "stock" shape that I can offer up if needed.  How many does Frank have now?

Yes, it would be nice to start and end a little earlier when we are quite a ways from home.

I found these links for making paper doll style track decorations.  I'll keep adding more as I find them.  Take a look and see what you think.  Most are in 1/24 scale but if you just reduce to 75% the will come out in 1/32 scale.

Have fun!

One thing we need to keep in mind is being able to fix what breaks.  For example a Scaley car of three years ago would be a poor choice since they only support their products for two years.  So it either has to be a current product or something that we will allow after market parts to be used on.
And then we'll all have to agree on what can be updated and with what...

It would be nice to see the slower motor as well - SIMX05 - Tony says it would be a good choice for shorter tracks.  But stocking motors is going to be more of what we're using at the time.  I agree with all those parts Bill listed.  Plus the regular slot.it sidewinder pod - non-offset.  Maybe some braids.
